In 1999, Andreas Gursky turned the 99¢ Only stores into art; his iconic photograph of the Sunset Boulevard location sold for $1,999,999. Tomorrow, August 9, marks the stores’ 25 years of business, and to honor that anniversary, the very first 99¢ Only store at 6854 La Tijera Boulevard, near LAX (map), will be selling nine iPhones for 99¢ only to the very first nine customers, and the founder, appropriately named Dan Gold, will be there to congratulate you.
