Four Two Nine‘s editor-in-chief is my old friend and collegue from Vanity Fair, Kevin Sessums. He just moved to San Francisco from New York and took over the magazine this summer and this is his very first issue. I’m awaiting my copy in the mail, but here’s a sneak peek of the cover shot by Stewart Shining, featuring Andy Cohen and Sarah Jessica Parker, plus a few other inside spreads. “FourTwoNine is going to appeal to a broad and engaged readership,” says Sessums. “If I owned a car, I’d have as my bumper sticker ‘Never Judgmental, Always Discerning.’ I am hoping that that also describes our readership. I know it describes my editorial philosophy. While the magazine was created for an LGBT audience, it focuses on subjects we think our readers will find interesting, not just LGBT content. That’s only one facet of who we are as people, and I think that will be only one facet of what we are as a magazine.” Oversimplifying for sure, but it sounds kinda like a gay Vanity Fair, which may be redundant, but I’m subscribing anyway.
