The songs of Bobby Darin. The tour coincides, coincidentally, with publicity for Spacey’s film, Beyond the Sea, a Darin biopic. Darin, who had hits with “Splish Splash,” “You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby,” “Dream Lover,” and the magnificent, Grammy-winning “Mack the Knife,” was married to then-hot starlet Sandra Dee, now known primarily for being a lyric in the song “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee” from Grease. Also coincidentally, Darin died from a botched heart valve operation in 1973, the year The Exorcist was released.

Speaking of Exorcist: The Beginning, William Friedkin, who directed the original that had them vomiting in the aisles, finds it “pretty sleazy,” according to Army Archerd’s column in Variety. “I have no intention of even seeing it,” he said. Particularly irksome is the prequel’s use of footage from the original, without a courtesy call from the production to Friedkin.
