A San Francisco supervisor has put forth legislation that would make racially or discriminatory-motivated 911 calls a crime.
It is appropriately named
The CAREN Act
Which stands for:
“Caution Against Racially Exploitative Non-Emergencies”.
The bill would hold people who make bogus, racist 911 calls accountable, such as the ones made by skincare CEO Lisa Alexander and Amy Cooper in NYC’s Central Park black birdwatching incident. Although the latter wouldn’t apply, but I’ll bet NYC and other major metro centers across the US will enact similar legislation.
The move was put forth by SF Supervisor Shamann Walton and reflects a broader movement to address the continued issue of misusing emergency services with clearly racist motivations.
President Karen is NOT going to be happy about this…
