According to a Texas medical examiner’s office, the death of a ground crew worker last Friday who was sucked into a plane’s engine at the San Antonio International Airport has been ruled a suicide.
Officials in Texas have ruled that the horrible death of a 27-year-old San Antonio International Airport contractor, who was sucked into a jet engine, was a suicide. Ground crew worker David Renner was killed after being sucked into a plane engine and was killed instantly.
The National Transportation Safety Board previously said in a statement provided to USA Today that the airport employee was killed around 10:25 p.m. local time Friday when he was caught and “ingested” in the engine of a Delta Air Lines plane that arrived from LA and was taxiing to the gate.
An employee at the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Tuesday to USA Today in a phone call the cause of death was due to
blunt and sharp force injuries.”
The safety board, which previously indicated its intent to continue working with Texas authorities to gather information, said that it no longer plans to investigate the man’s death in light of the ruling from the medical examiner.
According to the statement, which the agency provided to USA Today,
The NTSB will not be opening an investigation into this event.
There were no operational safety issues with either the airplane or the airport.”
That sounds very fishy to me. Sad, if true, that they killed themselves but that’s not much actual explanation as to what happened.
