According to Forbes, Kanye West (aka, Ye) has a net worth of $410 million, down from $2+ billion.
The rapper, record producer, and fashion designer, is a self-made billionaire, in large part to his Yeezy brand and collaborations.
But following a series of antisemitic remarks and “White Lives Matter” stunts last Fall, Adidas and Gap each ended their lucrative partnerships with West for his Yeezy lines, where he amassed a significant part of his overall net worth.
Adidas said in a statement at the time of the break-up,
Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.
Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness. After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies.
Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”
According to The Washington Post, the Yeezy brand brought in roughly $2 billion per year in revenue for Adidas which amounted to nearly 10% of the company’s overall annual revenue.
Forbes now ranks Ye the 2,543th richest person in the world.
