Outgoing Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has weighed in on the DC/ McCarthy drama.
Her successor, Rep-elect. Kevin McCarthy, failed – AGAIN– after the sixth vote on Wednesday.
After the House decided to adjourn for the day, late last night Pelosi called out Republicans, tweeting
all who serve in the House share a responsibility to bring dignity to this body.”
Sadly, Republicans’ cavalier attitude in electing a Speaker is frivolous, disrespectful and unworthy of this institution.”

Sadly, Republicans’ cavalier attitude in electing a Speaker is frivolous, disrespectful and unworthy of this institution.
We must open the House and proceed with the People’s work.
Last evening McCarthy and his allies were working with members of the House Freedom Caucus, who make up most of the 20 Republicans opposing him, to come to an agreement on concessions.
But McCarthy does NOT have the same respect for the institution or Pelosi.
If you remember, one year ago during a fundraiser in Tennessee, McCarthy said if he were ever to become Speaker, he would find it hard to resist hitting Pelosi with a Speaker’s gavel.
According to The Washington Post‘s Michael Scherer on Twitter,
It will be hard not to hit her with it but I will bang it down.”
The House is scheduled to reconvene today at noon for the seventh round of voting. Once again, it does NOT look good for McCarthy.

McCarthy invites the 1,400 at Nashville dinner to DC when he becomes speaker.
He says he wants everyone to see Pelosi hand him the gavel. “It will be hard not to hit her with it but I will bang it down,” he says.
