Brexit be damed, last night was the night. After months of teasers and behind-the-scenes pics, teaser trailers, pictures of Kate Moss wading through the Thames and news of 60 celebrity cameo appearences, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie finally premiered in London’s Leicester Square where a star-studded list of attendees watched the film before it opens tomorrow in England. And from the looks of it, it was a BIG DEAL.
Everyone from Jerry Hall and Joan Collins to Rebel Wilson, Suki Waterhouse, Stella McCartney and Dame Edna make an appearance in the film. Gwendoline Christie, Game of Thrones’s Brienne said in an interview earlier this year, that she was “overwhelmed” by the famous faces in the cast:
“I walked into the green room on the first day of filming… Jerry Hall was in there. Lulu was in there. Alesha Dixon turned up. Emma Bunton turned up…. I was trying not to look like the overwhelmed fan that I am.“
Without any real spoilers, what do we know so far about the film so far?
The full trailer reveals a dramatically absurd plot in which Edina possibly kills Kate Moss at the British Fashion Awards. She and Patsy are then forced to go on the run to St Tropez- where else? So there are some big questions to be answered. Can Kate Moss really be dead? Will Edina and Patsy’s ever be able to walk into Harvey Nichols with their heads held high again? And… most importantly, will Stella McCartney finally let Eddy wear one of her designs?
See the trailer below if you haven’t already seen it six times. And there is a full 2 hours of gold (not red) carpet arrivals too for those die hard Ab Fab fans. Something is funky with the video and audio in the beginning, so it actually starts at about the 11 minute mark and goes on for DAYS.
