Big Brother 6, unarguably the best Big Brother to date, came to a crashing conclusion last night with the “crowning” (as poker-stiff host Julie Chen kept calling it) of Maggie as the winner of the $500,000 prize, which included no crown, but a lot of groans from this editor. Choosing between the last two house guests, Cappy-lovers Maggie and Ivette, was to us like having to choose between eating ground glass or losing the sight in one eye – the old “if you had to” dilemma – but actually much harder. Though, like the rest of the country, we adored Kaysar, and ultimately grew fond of James and Sarah, at our house the real winners were Janelle and Howie, and judging from the response they got from the crowd assembled outside the Big Brother house last night , we’re not the only ones who think that. Howie always claimed he was the star of the show, and he and Janelle never disappointed when it came to lighting up the dark corners of the house. Why, Janelle is so drag-queen savvy, she wasn’t afraid to wear gunk on her face for the cameras, and even freshened her roots for last night’s reunion.
Randy “cannot believe by the end of the season I actually wanted Ivette to win,” he says. Even Janelle went over to the dark side. He wonders if anyone TiVo’d the show, “because there was this weird moment at the very end” – when the house guests were finally released to fondle friends and family – “where Howie was hugging this guy for quite some time, and we didn’t get to see who the guy was, but it made me think, Hello-o-o-o, Howie, totally gay? That was his lover? Maybe I was just imagining it.” Or wishing it. Anybody out there want to check it out for us?
PS: We hear there’s some friction happening right now between Ivette and former BBer Marcellas on Housecalls, the live BB talk show.
