Sorry, folks, that rumor our man in Santa Maria, Chris McKim, heard about the verdict being in turned out to be premature. We apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused you. But we can say, without contradiction, that Court TV-beleaguered Jackson champ, BJ Hickman, restraining order weighing heavy on his shoulders, gave a press conference earlier this afternoon, and McKim sends us this email.
The frenzy around BJ seemed to have burned itself out following the press conference, which was like something out of a John Waters film. Reporters were tripping over each other trying to get a word out of him afterwards. Poor BJ was overwhelmed and didn’t know which way to turn so he ended up taking them on a wild goose chase up and down the sidewalk. It was kind of sad to see 30 or so journalists badgering this 18-year-old kid who just wanted to support Michael Jackson. Trying to find a way out the throng, BJ made his way across the street from the courthouse when a woman driving by yelled, “If Michael’s not guilty why doesn’t he have little girls sleep over,” um, whatever. BJ finally found a getaway car, leaving the media mad dogs behind. When he returned an hour later, things were calmer until the rumor that the verdict was in started circulating.
Hmm. That rumor.
