When a street urchin finds a lamp with a genie inside, he uses the lamp to turn himself into a prince in order to win the heart of a beautiful princess.
So far, we’ve had a few quick glimpses into what the Aladdin remake will look like – with an annoyingly manic Will Smith and a SHIRT-WEARING Aladdin… I mean REALLY? – but today we got our first hint that maybe, just maybe, we’re in for something magnificent. Mena Massoud, as the titular star, may not be as cute as his cartoon counterpart, but he MIGHT have the charisma to pull it all off. Naomi Scott looks to be a perfectly lovely Jasmine. Will Smith MAY NOT muck everything up, like he usually does. And, oh my God, Marwan Kenzari STEALS the SHOW as the suddenly scorching hot villain Jafar. WOWZA. HUBBA HUBBA. Give me some of THAT, amiright?
Then – when the opening chords of “A Whole New World” start – you WILL get a lump in your throat.
