For the longest time we always wanted our own channel. But without billions of dollars it wasn’t possible. Now, thanks to the web, it is.
And then we thought, wait, why can’t everyone have their own channel? In a world of 500 channels, why not 500 million channels? In a nutshell, that’s the idea behind WOW TV.
Manhattan Cable and Takeover TV were the first shows we ever made at World of Wonder, and they showcased the talents of people who wanted to make TV without having the access to broadcast networks. So we’ve been championing what is now known as ‘user-generated content’ for more then 10 years.
People thought we were crazy then. They still think we’re a little bit crazy now. But we always felt that television belonged to everyone. And that the audience not only knew how to read it, but also to speak it. Fluently. To that end, we’ve been building a new website called WOW TV for the last few months. It still has a little way to go before launching, but the domain is now up and you can sign up to be notified of the launch.
We won’t be burning through venture capital faster than Lindsay Lohan at the Chateau Marmont, because we don’t have any. But we will be launching soon. WOW TV will give users the opportunity to build, broadcast, and market their own channel, their own personal network.
