Artist Mel Odom‘s show Gorgeous opened in January at Daniel Cooney Fine Art. Shortly after, Mel sat down with novelist Edmund White to discuss his career. (Over the years Odom has done his share of covers for White’s books, the most famous above.)
They videotaped the interview, and I was going to post it right away, but I was hoping to get a transcript of some of the best bits but that never transpired. (The guy who did it ran off to Europe and I’m a two-fingered typist and too lazy to attempt it myself.)
It IS interesting, those two chatting, if you know your gay history, and ESPECIALLY if you don’t. It’s LONG, and starts out with a cameo by legengrdy playwright and drag icon Charles Busch.
You only have a couple of days to Gorgeous in person at 508 – 526 West 26th Street, #9C New York City. If you aren’t in NYC or don’t make it, these glimpses will have to do.
Watch.
