A federal judge ruled today that a lesbian soldier discharged under the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy should be reinstated. Major Margaret Witt was suspended in 2004 and subsequently discharged under the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy after the Air Force learned she had been in a relationship with another woman. She sued to get her job back after being discharged from the Air Force for being gay after 18 years of service. The ruling only applies to her and Major Witt’s attorney expects the Obama administration’s Dept. of Justice will appeal the decision, but it’s still nice to hear some good news on the DADT front. Congratulations on your win Major Witt. (via JoeMyGod.)
