Gus Kenworthy’s cameo kiss in 80 for Brady didn’t make the final cut.
According to Kenworthy, the film originally included a scene in which he makes out with his on-screen boyfriend, played by actor Brian Jordan Alvarez.
Kenworthy has his own suspicions about why the kiss ended up on the cutting room floor. He told Variety,
They said they had to cut it for time, but I think they cut it for Middle America.”
He said that he and Alvarez filmed the scene multiple times,
They used the script for one take, but then we did it like four or five times where we would just ad-lib insults at each other and then make out.
Some of them got raunchy… Release the tapes!”
The film is inspired by the true story of four best friends who travel to the 2017 Super Bowl to see their hero Tom Brady play. Starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno and Sally Field.
80 for Brady is in theaters now.
