“From the Vault” is a fabulous new daily posting we’re doing at the WOW Report: It’s our EXCLUSIVE daily peek into the extensive library of WOW shows, interviews, and pop culture ephemera we’ve collected over the last three decades.
TODAY: Longtime wowlebrity/fashion maven/johnny-on-the-spot reporter Laurie Pike appears in this 1991 episode of World of Wonder’s groundbreaking Manhattan Cable television show, dressed as a recovering plastic surgery patient, interviewing people on the streets about plastic surgery. The topic, which had been taboo for decades, was just becoming something that people were opening up about. Fascinating how far we’ve come. Laurie also goes to a luxurious plastic surgery recovery hotel in Manhattan for wealthy patients, and speaks to the owner about what their clientele can expect while recuperating.
