One week from tomorrow, Will & Grace (& Jack & Karen) ARE BACK! Are you excited? I’m not ashamed to admit it, I am!
The cast and the creators took take a little trip down Mammary Lane (Karen’s street) and reflected on how the fab four nearly didn’t get together.
Eric McCormack was the one who initially turned down the part,
“I walked away for about a month and then I said: ‘I think I made a terrible mistake…‘”
Megan Mullally originally audition for Grace and that didn’t go well, but she returned to audition for Karen the creators, Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, said she was great and asked why they had never seen her before. She responded
“something you can’t say on TV.“
After Sean Hayes was asked to read for Will who was already cast, he read for Jack and as he was leaving the audition said to one of the creators,
“Mutchnick, stop looking at my ass!“
And Jack was born.
Debra Messing was recommended Grace but had just wrapped on a drama and thought,
“I just think I’m too tired.“
But she did and the rest is Herstory. The new series (already picked up for season 2!) premieres September 28th on NBC.
Watch.
