Without further adou, here’s our Top Ten of the things that made us go WOW this week:
10) The New Star Trek is BEYOND, Hunty
We recently saw the new movie Star Trek Beyond and we LOVE that they made Sulu an openly gay man in this version. We try to wrap our heads around why the original Sulu, George Takei who is openly gay himself, was so dead-set against the character he made famous being homosexual.
9) Super Queeros: Gay Comics
James St. James recently came across the new comic books Merry Men and Snotgirl and they are G-A-Y! Merry Men is a retelling of the Robin Hood story with a big gay twist, and Snotgirl is a bi-sexual fashion blogger with a bit of a mucous problem. See more of Merry Men and read an interview with creators Robert Rodi and Jackie Lewis on the WOW Report.
8) Touch This Skin: It’s McQueen, Dahling
A recently graduated fashion student, Tina Gorjanc wants to use Alexander McQueen’s DNA to grow skin. “Where does one get Alexander McQueen’s DNA?,” you ask. She plans to get it from his 1992 collection that includes locks of his own hair. Eventually she would like the skin to be tanned and turned into bags and jackets. Creepy? Cool? Would you get your hands on one of these?
7) Marni Nixon: The Voice of a Generation You’ve Never Heard Of
Marni Nixon, the unsung singer of many Hollywood classics, died of breast cancer yesterday at her in Upper West Side home Manhattan. She was 86. We discuss her life and career as the singing voice of Deborah Kerr (The King and I), Natalie Wood (West Side Story), and Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady) among others.
6) Is Meghan Trainor America’s Adele?
5) Netflix & Ill
Netflix and chilling could actually be harmful to your health! That’s right, kiddos. Your Netflix subscription could be killing you. A Japanese study has found that people who watch more than five hours of television a day are 2.5 times more likely to die of a pulmonary embolism than someone who watches less than two hours.
4) Tesla’s Insane Magnificent Master Plan
Tesla is REALLY on a roll! Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk has released a NEW manifesto that outlines the brave new direction her is taking Tesla into the future. Their ENORMOUS digs (the biggest in the world)! Flights to outer space! Self-driving cars! He is truly the visionary we need right now.
3) Fashion Icon: Hillary Clinton?!
Is Hillary Clinton our new style icon?! With her big, boxy power tunics and star fleet commander looks, she is poised to take the fashion world by STORM! At least, that’s what James thinks…
2) Walter Mercado’s Trump POTUS Fantasy
What could top all of these? You’ll have to FIND OUT at 4:00PM EST and again at 4:00 PST (7 PM EST) on SiriusXM!
