After Donald Trump surprisingly condemned the so-called “Bathroom Bill” in North Carolina that bans transgender individuals from bathrooms corresponding with their gender identities, Ted Cruz wasted no time in putting out an ad attacking him for it. Of course.
The ad, “Appropriate,” which appears on Cruz’s YouTube channel and Twitter feed, plays out like a horror movie.
Ominous black-and-white captions are transposed over a row bathroom stalls, once secure haven for cis women and pretty little girls. Now, though, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN THERE. NOBODY IS SAFE.
“Should a grown man pretending to be a woman bellowed to use the women’s restroom? The same restroom used by your daughter? Your wife? It’s not appropriate. It’s not safe. It’s PC nonsense that’s destroying America.”
Disgusting, disgusting, disgusting. Watch it below (at your own peril).
He doubled down on his hateful rhetoric while campaigning in Maryland yesterday
“Grown adult men — strangers — should not be alone in a bathroom with little girls. And that’s not conservative. That’s not Republican or Democrat. That’s basic common sense,” Cruz asserted.
“As you know, my daughters are 5 and 8. My 5-year-old knows the difference between boys and girls,” Cruz said, exploiting his children to make a hateful and wholly dishonest political point. “That’s not a reasonable position, it is simply crazy and the idea that grown men would be allowed alone in a bathroom with little girls — you don’t need to be a behavioral psychologist to realize bad things can happen, and any prudent person wouldn’t allow that.”
