When the Gap-brand store Old Navy began running those TV ads starring Canadian singer/actress/model Melissa Molinaro looking for all the world like Kim Kardashian, the reality-show skank immediately sued the retail chain for $20 million, claiming that the commercials “created confusion in the marketplace and violated her rights to her name and likeness.” But bless their little hearts at The Gap, they’re not going to just give Kim the Kashian, they’re going to fight her in court. They’ve launched an investigation into whether in fact Kim’s reputation really was sullied as she claims it was. The legal battle could get really interesting and really lengthy and become far more engaging than any of the Kardashians’ multiple whiny reality shows. According to the New York Post, legal experts predict that “Kardashian herself, as well as her doppelganger and the creative forces behind the commercial, could end up on the witness stand.” And The Hollywood Reporter reports that Reggie Bush, who (in)famously dated both Kardashian and Molinaro, could be asked to testify because, reportedly, he began dating Molinaro after the Old Navy commercial first aired and The Gap plans to make his relationship with the two women an issue somehow. “It’s unclear,” says the Reporter, “what legal purpose this serves, but it’s further proof of how personal this case has become.”
