Flashback, Feb. 26, 1979 : Below is an ABC News Special Report that aired 38 years ago, when the last total solar eclipse for North America swept across the Pacific Northwest.
Anchorman Frank Reynolds showed live images from Washington state’s Goldendale Observatory, with live reports from former science correspondence Jules Bergman and reporter Bob Miller.
“So that’s it,” he concluded, “the last color eclipse to be scene on this continent, this century. Not until August 21, 2017, will another eclipse be visible…. May the shadow of the moon fall on a world at peace.”
