As a general rule, anything that is a “created collectible” is crap. If it started as just a “thing” then it might have organically become sought after. The people who become rich from this junk are the people who create it, like Ty Warner, the founder of Beanie Babies, who turned the toys into a $4.4 billion fortune and a luxury hotel empire. The stuff on this list is simply marketing, not connoisseurship.
1. Hummel Figurines
2. Beanie Babies
3. Hess Trucks
4. Thomas Kinkade paintings – (Note; Kinkade has since died, so this may have changed the equation. It’s not likely, though)
5. Franklin Mint Collectibles
6. Precious Moments figurines
7. Norman Rockwell plates
8. Lladro figurines
9. Cabbage Patch Kids
10. That crap in your attic you think might be worth something.
