James St. James and Thairin Smothers went to the retrospective of legendary NYC East Village artist and doll-maker Greer Lankton (1958-1996), currently showing at One Archives in West Hollywood until September 17. James interviewed Kenny Scharf, Van Barnes, Bruno Schmidt and One Archives' Daniel Babcock about this glamorous, conflicted and brilliant artist whose own androgynous beauty and eerily beautiful dolls captivated the art, fashion and downtown worlds of New York City, and later the world at large, in the 80's and 90's.
On Sunday afternoon while shooting a "Daily Freak Show" about the Greer Lankton exhibit at One Archives in West Hollywood, James St. James and Thairin Smothers ran into Kenny Scharf on the street, who then gave them a sneak preview of his recently-completed new mural next to the new West Hollywood library. Here Kenny talks to James about the mural - and they even look for some familiar faces in the mural's imagery. The full "Daily Freak Show" about the Greer Lankton exhibit is coming soon!

Yesterday, The Go-Go's received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame right outside the WOW building, which also happens to be the location of the legendary club The Masque, where the band first performed, in 1978. James St. James was on hand to interview the ladies and take them on a tour of the old Masque, which is still in WOW's basement. Here the band reminisces about their early days, sharing anecdotes about Darby Crash of The Germs, The Masque's founder Brendan Mullen, their old friend Peter Ivers of New Wave Theater and his unsolved murder, Exene Cervenka, and more. Plus, Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin point out the "Go-Go's" graffiti they left on the wall back in '78 – and even add some brand-new graffiti before they leave! James also gets to chat with Belinda Carlisle's super-cute gay activist son, James Duke Mason. Subscribe to "Daily Freak Show" on YouTube.
