In today’s turbulent political climate, everyone has to take a stand. Everyone must resist. As my granddad used to say “You’re either part of the parade or part of the pavement.” And so it is with the fashion industry, who – post-election – are giving their new-found political clout a workout.
Diesel’s is doing a brilliant job of it in their latest fashion campaign, “Make Love Not Walls” directed by legendary wowlebrity David LaChappelle. It’s being described as “a direct rebuttal to the current political climate of discrimination and separation,” with a focus on “creating unity and sharing love.”
Diesel told HuffPo the campaign comes at “a crucial historical moment, where hate, walls and fear seem to prevail.”
Says artistic director Nicola Formichetti:
“At Diesel, we have a strong position against hate and more than ever we want the world to know that. Love and togetherness is crucial in creating a society we all want to live in, and the future we all deserve.”
