I even had to close what little retirement savings I had to pay the bills for the next few months while I try and figure out what I am going to do to sustain my life.

            Skrew U was responding to the really selfserving comment posted by Johnny Dean, above.  He wasn’t actually attacking an entire generation, per say.  However, Skrew U Dean is accurate in that, it is not the below 30 year old’s who created the mess within our country.  We can look to our grandparents generation first, followed by our parents generation.  

            I hope the generation coming into their own now, the 30 year old’s, are able to see the overall damage and begin taking the necessary steps to bring production jobs back into our country. This would be a huge leap forward for a nation that has more than enough natural materials to be self reliant again, as well as people who are still alive with the skills to teach our young people how to “do it ourselves”.

      Another contributing factor in their warped perception of the world is the way our government school system has eliminated all traces of competition.  Everyone’s a winner, since if anyone were permitted to fail or come in “second” in anything (gasp), someone could suffer terrible damage to their “self esteem”. 

      So, at the end of the day, we’re left with an entire generation of self-styled prima-donnas, all convinced they’re going to save the world, and all legends in their own mind.  They’re in for a collective rude awakening.

             I am 30 so I’m right on the border between you and them. I have my own children, served in the military, as MANY of my generation did and still do. In my opinion a 23 year old something who serves his country and sees death and the world beyond our American paradigm is far more qualified to comment about “being educated” than you’re typical 35 something MBA who’s never left the US…or his own state for that matter.

            MY GENERATION answered the call to serve our nation when the towers fell. That is something that hasn’t been asked for since WWII and “The Greatest Generation” after pearl harbor. Were there riots? Did they even NEED a draft? No! Because for TEN FREAKING YEARS my generation has volunteered to go. I was in the Navy and watched sailors VOLUNTEER to become army rats and pack a bag and boots because they needed people. Some of them died.

            And really…was it our war? I couldn’t even vote before I was in basic and being shipped off to war. No, we freaking did it for YOU. What can the Vietnam generation say about that?

            Perhaps be careful before you start counting credentials. We’ve done quite a lot in our meager years of adulthood. Most of us now, are graduating college with no jobs available. We are reconciling with the fact that our lives will have significantly LESS opportunity than yours had.

            Let’s talk Medicaide and SS will we are at it. We pay in, and its laughable to think WE will get anything back. All problems you older guys won’t freaking fix…cause you’re selfish and want it all. You don’t care because you’ll be dead before we are. That goes for the environment too. You don’t care about global warming because… you’ll be dead. How nice.

            Yes things are different for us than they were for you. Like families, media, politicians, public education, music, medication, food, porn… there’s about a million reasons for our generation to be complete lunatics…but we aren’t. I didn’t mean for this to get so emotional, and I don’t mean to be insulting, but I am PROUD to be in my generation. I think the rising generation is AMAZING, and it urkes me when other adults don’t see that. No one seems to see it, actually.             Apparently you don’t get out much. The Blacks didn’t start welfare etc., the Government did. Everyone I know has received some form of Government assistance at one time, or another during their lives. Most were educated, and made a decent living at some point. Shit happens to responsible people every day. In my city, the low income housing IS full of whites, as well as the Food Stamp/Welfare, and Medicaid Offices. This is not because, most of them just want a cheap place to live, or a free ride on the Government Train (which sucks). Most of them are suffering due to our sick economy.             I’ve talked to both of my daughters as mature adults since they were in diapers and at 2 they could speak full sentences and it was quite obvious that they understood more than most people gave them credit for, so they whipped through school, are happily married w/families of their own (they’re both working “soccer moms” with successful husbands), so I believe it’s all in how the parent(s) raise their kids. In a large portion of the world education goes on to universities and colleges. Look at every continent in the world, higher education is important in every single country that does well. Also as to your investment banker point, yes you need good grammar and language for that job, it even involves higher math, that’s where the investing comes in. If you really think the rest of the world doesn’t make attempts at higher learning for the majority of its populace, then you’ve never been outside the country, and probably haven’t been outside your state.

Unconditional love is the best way to raise a child, ask Warren Buffet, the main reason for his success, according to him.  You can’t hit a kid and have unconditional love, you can discipline him though, with time-outs and lectures and such, and will have a way more successful son or daughter later in life.  Weed makes you crazy? Maybe it makes some people act goofy, but I can guarantee that music, comedy, innovation, compassion and many other things would be far less developed in this world if not for it.  You guys have narrow perspectives and maybe something to expand your mind and open your perceptions a bit to come to real life truths.  I do agree with you with one thing Steve, having a degree doesn’t mean that you are more intelligent, and not having one shouldn’t mean you can’t get a good job if you are qualified.  You can learn anything you learn in college on your own now-a-days if you want.  The two math classes I took this summer, Calc II and discrete math, all the professors did was read through the book and go over the examples, but for some reason attendance  is mandatory…like I would learn something more than reading it at home, let alone the extra $40K it will cost in tuition just to prove I am educated, wth.  In a lot of ways its a crappy world we live in, and rules and regulations seem to make things worse than better a lot of the times, but I know there is a reason for this, COMPARISON.  Imagine how much better we will feel in the next life if we take our knowledge and experience with us to Heaven. Winters make the summers more appreciated and vice-versa, so  all this bs here on earth from every generation is probably God’s plan to make us feel that much better for so so much longer.  Let us all suck it up, do things right to get us to Heaven and the rest is negligible compared to that. Stop the hate, let people live how they want, as long as it isn’t bothering you, embrace differences instead of fearing and discriminating and pointing fingers at everybody else.  Passers-by might have a hard time figuring out who the fools are in this argumentative comment section we have going, some will think me, but all will be right, we are all fools, don’t think you are the exception.

            Just because I believe in Jesus, doesn’t mean I take the Bible literally.  There are different versions and was written during a different era.  Most of it is symbolic, archaic, and rather gothic, especially the Old Testament.  Who believes a woman should be stoned for adultery? How can the most influential man in the world, Jesus, be fiction? Name another fictional character that had close to same influence he had.  I bet you can’t.  66% of the people in the world are a religion that view Jesus as a real person, although some say prophet, some say man, some say God.  If you don’t believe, maybe look up Our Lady of Fatima, where 70K people witnessed a miracle in 1917, let alone all the other Mary apparitions over the centuries (Guadalupe Mexico, St. Bernadette in Lourdes to name a couple).  Or for evidence you can look at people who received the stigmata, Padre Pio, Georgio Bongiovanni who is presently alive (who got it while in the same Fatima as the apparitions in 1917). The signs are there for us to see what is fact and what is fiction.  Don’t think I don’t question everything I have been spoon fed.  I don’t believe the Catholic Church is right on all matters of faith, like they say, but I do think they do a lot more good than bad, so still consider myself Catholic, although don’t practice it by attending church, just try to pray a lot, like Mother Mary asked us to, and I try to follow its main principles, unconditional love and sacrifice.  Anybody have any evidence Jesus didn’t exist?

The younger generation is a generation that thinks outside of the box and therefore they are more inovated and will be the ones who get us off oil and lead us into the future, not just in technology but in the humanitarian way to run this country. Respect is an issue I’m trying to teach my children.  Television shows aimed at children teach them that the child is in charge and to ultimately disrespect their parents.  I have to pound in to my kids heads that respect is automatically given to everyone! Nobody has to EARN your respect; they just have to keep it! If someone looses your respect (and it had better be for a good reason), then they’ll have to earn your respect back.             Incidentally, I’m 47 myself.  I prefer not to cop an attitude towards anyone who is older or younger than my generation.  People are people.  Some are good, some choose not to be.  Some are wise, some are clueless.  Some are arrogant, some are humble.  That’s humanity.  That’s life.  I’ve noticed there are about as many arrogant buttholes in my generation as there are in any other.  I’m sure we’re all guilty of it at one time or another -we’re only human after all.  We all just have to strive to recognize it in ourselves as easily as we do in others and  overcome it as best we can.

I interact with them, I have conversations with them, I joke with them. Instead of standing there concentrating on adding up a total in my head, I let the computer do its job, and I spend more time talking with my customers. Call me incompentent as much as you would like, but I have never had a problem with the way that I work.

            I also am not intimidated by face to face interaction and I’m not afraid to call someone up if I need to talk to them. In fact, I was raised not to rely on texting as a means of communication. I find it incredibly innapropriate to discuss important matters through text, I would much rather call someone than text them about something important. But hey, maybe I’m the crazy one.

            I am tired of people who say that my generation can’t do anything for themselves. I can and I do. I am working my butt off so that I can stay in college, and I am doing the best that I possibly can to make a better future for myself. I am trying so hard, and every time someone bashes me because I’m young it just makes me try that much harder. I have respect for people that have gone before me, I realize that your lives weren’t all easy, but mine isn’t either. I always hear people saying that respect is earned, all I think when I hear that is, “It works both ways.”

I was married,had a kid,lived 200 miles from my parents , a 60 hr a week job,and got by fine. Times are very different now. Self reflection & reality will set in.           To Jeremy Chance:  good for you and working for what you have.  I am 42 and my children were raised to earn what they get and work toward the good of the household.  (ie if you want dinner you either cook it or clean up after it) but most of there friends did not have to do chores AND were given an allowance (FOR WHAT???)  and it was very difficult to teach my son the value of working in such an entitled generation.

           I agree that people should be less ignorant before posting online, that’s why I feel you should research how welfare got started before you accuse one generation or another of starting it. Welfare was actually practiced in the US when it was under British rule(so unless you’re like 200 I doubt even your parents had anything to do with it) now the US government didn’t implement it until much later. Now I am over 30,in fact I’m 36 and I find that I know many more people that are under 30 that are against whooping their children than I do people over 30. Same with marriage and children, I see many more people against marriage and just love spitting out children that are under 30 than over.Also when I was in school we could fight and get over it instead of bring a gun to school and start shooting people and also had enough sense to know that guns don’t kill people idiots with guns kill people. However I do agree with you that you can’t lay any of this off on an entire generation. It’s each person’s choice what to do and how to act. There have been stupid people in every generation and I think we’ve took all the idiots from the last 3 generations and voted them into Government office!!!!!!

          Jeremy, your a few and far inbetween. I’m 48 and worked for everything I have. It’s not any specific generation to blame, so dont blame those who are giving their opinion. In general, my generation I will say is partly to blame as well as personal and political. Society has said, we cant disapline our kids, cause it’s child abuse and yes my kids were taught that in school and yes they are your age and older. Society has stated kids have rights, yes they do, but not to the point where they are disrespectful back to their parents. Society in general has created the mess that we’re in. Realistically kids have more rights than the parents and ther courts will back up the kids not knowing what the real truth is. Personal experience, my daughter was totally baligerant towards my wife at the time, calling her everyname in the book, the wife slapped her. Daughter runs to a friends house, father was a Dr. He called the sheriffs and CPS was knocking at my door. We the parents were to blame. WTF!! come on really. Yes, parents do get carried away, punish them, not the country. Kids are very much influenced by their peers and you can talk to them till your blue in the face and hope for the best.  Jeremy, if what your saying is truth about yourself, I’d shake your hand, your 1 in a handful. I’m a trainer and their is a huge difference from your generation and older generations. Thats a fact. Dont take anything personal and keep doing your thing. To many people worry about everything else and not themselves. Take care and keep working hard.

          I do agree with you…..buuuuuut, there is a great deal of our population who mimics what they are saying. You are one of the few exceptions to the rule. You obviously don’t fit the mold of which they speak but our society has turned into a bunch of wussies. I also agree with you when you say that the older generation screwed us up a bit as well. I also don’t fit the mold you speak of. I am 31 and I certainly spank my children and I don’t care about what anyone says about it. I think we should rely on our old values.           One of the most interesting facts that you’ll find about the animal kingdom:  Generally animals that are more socially minded (Dogs, Chimps and most of the primates) that is- that travel in large clans and rely on each-other tend to have the larger, more sophisticated brains.

          I’m wondering if something similar happens within human beings.  I’m certainly seeing some evidence correlating anti-social behavior to poor brain function in this thread.  We should call a biologist to find out.

When wars happened for no reason, there was no outcry from us, we just went jet skiing, and as long as it didn’t effect us, we just kept right on doing what we did, taking care of us.

          In Kindness, I would suggest, perhaps you too are generalizing and blaming.
          I am over thirty, believed in discipling my children, even though they picked up the phone and asked the operator for the number of a judge to have me arrested, I am over 50 fought to stay home and did, and was told I wasnt’ “helping the family” we made more than enough money for me to do this, while I did that I remodeled our home, taught scouts, volunteered in the classroom was the school nurse, cut all our own hair, did our own landscaping, made clothing, grew food yes, I participated in the world, and definitely I wanted my children and taught and helped many others at my kitchen table.  I did not watch TV and my kids thought me deranged for wanting them to do homework instead, so I cut the TV cord. Because I taught them skills and how to make, create and fix, they spliced it back together and applied electrical tape. 
          My son was merit scholar finalist and got in the paper for sewing and designing his own clothes, which people bought off his body on the slopes.  I also taught him to use power tools and he made his own skate board ramps and speakers.  I taught him and many other children how to sew and cook, he became a sushi chef and later put himself through law school and is using his many talents and skills to repair a hundred year old plus house.  My daughter’s are equally talented but this is not about a brag session of my children I’m merely addressing the blanket inaccurate  accusations painted with a broad brush describing my demographics.

          I do not consider me responsible for the government’s decision to create welfare, nor do I agree with how it works, having listened to many single mothers who would chose the  absolutely necessary healthcare for their childrenand leave the check behind…….which restricts them from progressing personally ( the insignificant and pointless check which will not allow them to work for more, meant to demean demoralize and oppress) The government will not allow them to only take the medical insurance.

          Do you consider yourself in control of our governments policies and programs?
          I hear your anger, and assume your are educated and intelligent.
          Your statements however are emotionally laden and blame oriented, and equally wrong and slanderous as the person you were responding to.
          Passing blanket blame is neither productive, nor accurate, and only adds to decay without accomplishing anything positive.

          Don’t you think the world could use your skills, and passion for something that improves our world?
          It would be awesome.  It sounds like you have the time and talent to do so.

           This is too funny.  I’m 33 and I spank my children. Actually when I was stationed in Louisiana it was perfectly legal to spank with an open hand on the buttocks as long as you didn’t leave a mark.  In fact the schools there send home a spanking permission slip.  Asking for consent to spank your child if they are bad.  I believe in a good spanking every now and then.  I turned out okay.  Along with spanking a child you must instill some verbal discipline.  It can’t be all spankings.  It all depends on the child really.  Some just need a firm loud voice and some need to get spanked.

        ok i would first like to go ahead and say im not super intelligent,so correcting my grammar is a lost cause.i found this artical while trying to check my email, and some of the things that have been pointed out here are true in my opinion. im 23 years old as well and i remember growing up seeing my friends talking about there parents and doing what they would and honestly if scared the crap out of me not for what they were doing but that i might be caught with them, i cant tell you how many times i had my ass torn up for not being respectful.so following my trend on growing up i also agree with what soflodoug and the oracle said about handouts, i watched as my school taught us threw socialism, and i watched as other kids in my class got sucked into the thought process of “but i deserve it”  and i knew it was wrong,simply because of how life was at home, my parents started teaching me that the world is a “cruel fickle bitch” as i seem to remember my dad telling me at one point, and that nothing is given to you, and when your down expect to be kicked a few times by life.so that was and has been my mind set from a pretty young age. i struggle every day to make it, but to some point i kind of like the fact that everything isnt easy and just life in itself is a challenge sometimes simply because when i fix that problem what ever it might be or when i figure out how im going to pay that bill or what ever it is, i feel like a man just like i used to watch my dad figure things out. so me personally with 23 years experience i think life  can be great and have wonderful moments but over all its a colossal pain in the ass and if you turn your back on it expect to be screwed,so with all of this said i do like some of  Marilyn music but i have something called life going on, his last trip threw the airport and who he might have offended isn’t any of my bussnies because i wasn’t there, leave people alone so they can live there lives to….

        First off, Marilyn Manson is 40. So how his weirdness got routed back to the younger generation is illegitimate. 

        Secondly, and most importantly, the new generation didn’t think that everything was owed to them: we told them that if they went to school and worked hard and earned their education, they’d have jobs they deserved. But now we have none for them. I’m not trying to contribute to this senseless debate. Every generation has its fault. This article about one dysfunctional dude’s public persona didn’t have to turn into a shouting match. Everybody that points a finger takes a side in the ‘he said she said’ argument. There are lazy people AND hardworking people in every generation. When did we all become so divisive and hateful towards anyone not like us? Things are supposed to progress with time but all I see now is a bunch of screaming crazy people. We let self-serving politicians divide us when we should be telling them to cut the crap and accept that compromise comes with sacrifice and rewards.

        I am only 22 years old and I am willing to admit that there are people within my age cohort or generation that can be crude or entitled, but that is no excuse to blame CHILDREN for the vast and complicated issues that plague our world. In addition, I know plenty of older individuals who can be entitled and I think that believing your generation is superior reflects more on your character than on ours. We cannot control the way in which our school systems work or the way that our parents raised us which was influenced by the way that you raised them. We are all responsible for the way things are. Blaming one another will help nothing. I realize I still have much to learn but you are foolish if you think that because you are older that you no longer have anything to learn. “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” -Socrates. And I find it insulting that antidepressants were mentioned given the fact that many of my friends who were put on the medication were forced to by their parents and encouraged to by doctors. I preach against any use of harmful pharmaceuticals and unfortunately many of the natural herbs and plants that can help us are scoffed at as remedies used by uneducated hippies.

All here need to realize that overgeneralizing to either age group is a direct act of otherization, leading to a sense of ageism. Age is extremely insignificant to both intelligence and wisdom. There are idiots in each age group and geniuses. However, as a 23-year-old, I do get offended when someone acts as if I must have some sense of entitlement. As many have stated here, I genuinely do work hard for all I have. My degree may not be paying off at this moment, as most jobs which require a degree also require experience, due to the lack of avaliable positions. I currently work at a restaurant, but that is nothing to be scoffed at, and I am not ashamed. You have to start somewhere, and not all live in a large city with plenty of oppurtunity. But I trust my ability, and will continue to work hard and advance. Being older in NO way makes you better. I believe there is plenty of wisdom in that statement. Don’t look at your age to express your worth, look at your accomplishments. Also, a huge pet-peeve. Nobody should comment on anyone else’s grammar/spelling. Each person who has don so on this post had made a mistake in one or the other. Typos happen, and even if one is not particularly good with grammar, that does not make them less intelligent. Different types of intelligence exist. There are many who are not excellent writers, but are excelent mathematicians, or logicians. Get over the small mistakes, and get off ofy your high horse. W all do it.

       Y’know, I agree with my elders on this one. I grew up working hard, but I still didn’t have anything under my belt. Sure, I’m regarded highly by most everyone who can even spend a miniscule amount of time conversing with me, but that won’t pay the bills, will it? I thoroughly believe that, after changing the way of living from conservative views, we now have to reinvent our system here, in America. Every day, we’re making lives more enjoyable for the younger generation, but I always worry what will happen to mine when our parents retire. A plenitude of people I’ve come to see these days walk around with so much unaccompanied pride, uttering the same shibboleths, and bandying the same argumentative tones, trying to gain superiority.

      As a three-year-old boy, I was corporeally punished. I was taught that I owe the world more than the world owes me. I could care less about the politics at hand and the conservative or liberal views; what I care about is the quality of the people. It doesn’t matter whether a child was raised by a same-sex couple or heterosexuals, to me. It’s about the traits of these people. I feel like our country is the only one that has changed for the worse in recent years. WE’LL be the ones to carry the plate of chaos. Our older generations probably had it made in comparison. At least they thought about their eloquence when writing, and tried to use their own words. It showed their originality. We just see it all as a math equation. It’s either “YOLO” or “SWAG.” Other than that, we have weak minds that shut down easily. Good at school and staying IN the box rather that thinking with innovation in mind.

      To my elders, I’m sorry I failed to show people a bigger picture. It’s hard to get people to think so differently in a country where it should be embraced (and, to my understanding, has always been a strong part of this country). It’s not just the hand, it’s the plant that decided to grow so poorly.

Now, I admit, there’s several people of my age and younger who do not have a firm grasp of the real world, or any grasp at all of concepts like politics, and individuality.       Now, I do have to agree that yes, part of Marilyn’s appeal is his strangeness, not to mention his controversial ways. However, the reason he does that is to GET people to talk about it. So by telling people to stop, you’re in essence encouraging his way of life to fail. Just a thought.

        I’m 50 and in Alabama at least we DID have guns in our schools – even in my Junior High .. the rifle team brought their own rifles and strolled into school with them .. it was not considered a big deal in 70s.  The last time I checked, my alma mater no longer HAS a rifle team!  Probably no other school does either.  They used to be as common as football teams.

    I’m just about out of words. But I will try to squeeze out another few. Why does creepiness and sickness and deviance sell?  Look at Alice Cooper who said himself that he never dreamed that he and his group would EVER achieve success like he did (Alice is now a born again Christian, btw)  
    So what is it? So I think its best to just admit that none of us are at fault and that none of us, no matter age, race, sex or party affiliation has to solve any problems anytime whatsoever in a together, civilized way. We should all draw our lines in the sand and wait for the inevitable day where we cross our lines, end our humanity and eat each other alive.     Jeremy, I’m 64 years old and have never had a hand out. I also have worked hard (much longer then you) for what I have. My wife and I raised our one child to be a responsible and God respecting person. In addition I served my country, in war, and though I’m disappointed with todays politics, would do it again. I’m not one to point a finger (or give one).  Sometimes it good to vent but saying everything is somebody else’s fault seems to be the politics of this time.

    I’m only twenty so I know this comment will be mostly disregarded and why? Based on age. I’ve been told over and over again wisdom is based on experience, not on age. I will admit that our generation is now a bit lazy, doesn’t like to work, ect. At work I hear many employees say ‘I work only as hard as they pay me’. I work ‘hard’ to keep my job to get myself through college because my parents aren’t helping. Am I upset by this? Yes, I am. Do I hate them for he situation I am in? Oh, no. Not at all. If you go through life expecting things to just fall into your lap, you’re wrong. And its because of how the world has progressed. We can’t keep pointing fingers at eachother, calling one generation ‘lazy and cowardly’ while we call another ‘stiff and the blame for all our problems now’. Its just an endless circle. Instead we should put our hands out and try to build something better for today AND for tomorrow because the generation now had the chance to right anything that we think is wrong.

    I’ve had my fair share of spankings. But I can also differentiate that from child abuse. I was raised a good kid and thats why I can hold a steady job, put myself through college with the help of loans, and continue on through life. No, I wasn’t told I could catch the stars and keep them in a jar, quite the opposite. I was told I was nothing and worthless most of my life but because I saw through the crap that was fed to me, I am working hard to get above. And I still am.

    I guess the point is that you shouldn’t class everyone together. Not all of us are lazy and expect everything to be handed to us (I mean, come on…we would all want that but its not realistic) and not all of us are to blame for the way we are now. Who’s to say that the older gentleman on the corner fought for our rights and lost? And yet you still look down on him for what you assume he did? Or the kid with tattoos and a piercing is a guy who is going to school to be a lawyer after getting his life straightened out?

    There are many types of people in the world, and all types are needed to keep our lives spinning. Everyone just needs to stop hating and understand that once thats done, we can get down to the real issues and make some changes.

    While the world seems to be caving in on itself (online drama), I’ve come to admire the people that are taking life with ease. No matter their backgrounds and unpolished goals, at least they don’t spend their time blaming others for life’s mishaps. These people realized that there is no need to point fingers, because what’s done is done. All there is to do, is what you can. And really, it’s pitiful when you try to accomplish a sense of justice and dominance over an online society. Everyone’s smart from what I’m seeing. But you’re falling to your own knowledge when you come on here and try to reason with people that have the same aim as you (ie. being correct in everything that spews from your mouths). I’m only a year into college, but even if “the world is going to shit,” I’ll do what’s possible of myself in order to contribute. Because if you haven’t noticed, the world runs better on optimism. Generations are a thing of the past, because so often in current society, their are people that surpass their own generation as well as the prior. A lot of people are just too scared and ashamed to realize that there are people in the world with more success than they would ever dream to have. But it’s not a contest people, it’s a matter of holding your own. Right now we’re currently living on the same planet and coinciding. Don’t spend your life lamenting over the failure and success of others because than you are not doing either.

    Honestly, there are good and bad things about all generations. You can’t blame everything on people older than you, nor can you blame it those younger. One thing I do know is that arguing with each other over which generation is “the best” seems very childish.
    I honestly don’t see a single post that supports either side well. All the arguments provided are completely ridiculous or just flat out hateful.

    after reading through all of these i noticed ppl putting others down for improper spelling/ grammar. we use this as a measure of intelligence, but its just learned behavior. how many different languages are there, most if not all using different grammar structures.  but if a tiger or some other kind of beastly creature was about to have you for lunch, anyone speaking any of those languages would be able to get your attention, and warn you that if you were having a bad day, to not worry, it will be done with soon enough if you don’t react quickly. providing that they would care enough to help out another who looked/acted/spoke differently than them. if their spelling and grammar were so horrible; how did you understand it to correct them? language is a living thing that  evolves along with us. all words are just tools that we created to understand whats going on with each other. the spelling or order in which they arrive has little to do with that anymore. ese, eevn tguohh lal hte leretts fo tihs ensetce aer smarcbled, sit relaly nto taht dfifclut ot fidn otu waht ti syas. providing you care enough to try. so yeah, it may sound strange, but maybe we should spend more time thinking why this or that person does the things that they do, instead of just seeing them as tiger food.

    I don’t know about all you folks, but I’m 26 years old. I grew up in the 80′s, a foundly remember the 90′s. My bones hurt these days, because I have premature arthritous, and my skin doesnt heal like it used too. I’m tired all the time, and don’t have the energy I used too, even though I live a relatively healthy life style.

    I only own 1 computure, NEVER owned a Cellphone, smart phone, tablet, or apple product. Videogames never curropted me, since I’ve been playing them since before they even had narrative – since 1988. I never had cable growing up, so I was one of the 90′s generation kids whos brain never got rotted by tv, and I never grew up intitled. I grew up playing outside, going to the mall to hangout, and talking to friends over a rotery phone.

    I was’nt spanked – I got whippings! With belts, brooms, and small branchs (switches). My parents NEVER told me i could be anything; as a son of a drug addicted carpenter, and a secretary, I wasnt bound for harvard, or rockstardom. My mom always told me “some folks are collage material – and some arnt. You arent.” She expeted me to do well, but not perfect in school, and openly expected me to grow up to be a cop, or a carpenter like my dad – hanging sheetrock for a living. I was never raised to think i was better than anyone – infact I was raised to accept my plight in life, be realistic about stuff, and understand I come from a lower class in life than others. 

    My first computure was a 7 year old piece of junk I got at a yeard sale, when I was 21 – until then, my only experience with technology was Playstation and VCR.

    My parents never bought me a car, never saved ‘any’ money whatsoever for my educastion, and we never went on vactions or trips growing up. My summers where spent out side with my brother and cousin causing chaos, and pulling off stupid stunts. lol. We where outside all day, and into the night, and we never had money – so we had to find our own fun. And if somthing broke at our house, I had to fix it because we couldnt aford a new one – and 99% of the time whatever brought was used to begin with (like getting stuff at the dump or yardsales).

    Because of my up-bring I never could afford to go to collage, I grew up with a crappy education because my parents couldnt afford to drive me to a better school, wherent education enough (or had had the time) to homeschool me, and because I grew up in a bad area, I went to a terrible school. My parents didnt care about China, or if their son could speak 2 or 3 languages and be competative in life – they simply needed me to go to school, so they could go on to work themselves!

    But you know what? I’m grateful for my life: I’m uneducated, working as – guess what? – a carpenter, and I dont make enough money to even leave my state for a vacation!

    But I have a bad selfasteem, I don’t own technology, I rarely even voice my opinons (this post here, is RARE, but I HAD to say something on this topic). I’m not entitled to anything in life – no one is, but the rich. Life is short, and none of this matters, and all I can do is respect others. And live a life above myself; aring for others before my own self, and ignoring people who hate poor folks like me – or think I’m delushional because I help animals, a other poor people – when they should quote*un*quote “Just Die Already – and  Quite sapping our Health Care System, and Wellfair, because their just lazy” Un* Quote*.

    I’m sorry for you 40+ year olds for what these young guys on here are saying, and what this idiot generation today is going to do to our country, and world (since stupidity isnt just reserved to national borders).

    I think todays youth are hipsters. Intitled. They had everyone who isnt Upper middleclass, because there parents raised them like rich little celebrities. They can’t live without technology. And it’s computures and smartphones that have robbed them of their collective souls. They insult everyone. Think they are better than jesus christ! Have answers for everything, and think guys like me who are low-goalers in life – are just lazy bums.

    Everything with them, is hate speechs, opions, and additude. The dress in bizzar cloths, obsess over technology, and subscribe to so many internet, phone, video, and music services, that it makes my head spin – they waist so much money, and act like they dont. I play video game – so what? I spend maybe $20 a year on them – if that! Aside from my utilities, and a small lanline phone bill; I have no other bills! I live a simple life, so if I but a few video games, thats fine. I aint wasting my money, since I don’t travel, eatout, or blow all my cash of hippie cloths and  music, and gadgets, and phones every year. I don’t have anything other than regular tv, and its 4 channels. And when i want to talk to someone, I write a letter – ON PAPER, and mail it out. OR I cal them on my 20 yearold phone, thats connected to a ‘phoneline’, that goes into a ’wall’ in my house. It can’t check internet, it cant tell me the weather in china. I only has buttons, to call people. And no adress book, so i have to ‘remember phone numeber!’.

    I don’t even have broadband at my houde, I still use dial-up! When I play videogames, its bymyself – since i cant go online and currpot myself on serviced like XBOX LIVE or STEAM.

    And if I could have one wish in my life fufilled it’s be this: I wish it where the 1990′s again. I’d even settle for the 1950s. But the 80′s would be MY pick.

    I don’t care about anything today; opinons, polotics, china, technology, movies, I don’t even care for modern videogames. Like the current generation of iditos being brought up today – (I find) It all is just souless. Nothing today, games, people, entertainment, polotics, other countries, has a soul anymore. Compassion, understanding, humility – it’s all gone. Inplace is a world full of young people with educations that dwarf the Geniouses of the last century. Kids who make me look like a backwoods retarded hick. BUT its their own upbringing, sucess, and education that’s turn them into the machines they spend so much time with!

    So PLEASE, people. I BEG YOU. DO NOT LUMP Generation X (or am I Y?) with this generation of young people today! You guys like to say “Anyone UNDER 30″.  That principle doesnt apply anymore! People, over 23, maybe 24, are in our own demographic, old enough to of not gorwn up like the rest – but just young enough that you guys FORGET, that we ALOS grew up before technology, and the facebooks of the world!

    Anyone 23 and Under, are part of a DIFFERNT Generation. ONLY the rare kid whos 23, may remember a time before all of this craziness today.

    And TODAYS teens ARE EVEN WORSE!

    Techonolgy and society moves so fast these day, I think you have to create a new generational distinctive class, every 10 years, not 20 or 30 anymore. Just think of who much has changed int he last 12 years alone!

    So again. Please don’t lump MY generation (X or Y) in with todays youth. I’m 26 – I’m considered a ‘old’ by the kids you talk about.

    Manson had the right idea to try and keep paparazzi away. I love his style, he’s very radical. As for the heated debate going on? I was born in ’94 and I don’t feel that I qualify for some of the things said. I have worked since the age of 12 so I don’t expect things to be handed to me and I am not trying to sound special or anything by saying I worked at a young age. I know plenty of people that started working before me. My father is a union Iron Worker, he has been all his life, and he has always taught me that if I wanted something, I had to work for it and earn it myself. And by the way he is not prescribed anti-depressants, he doesn’t really believe they work. I actually agree with what is said about the public school system and how all forms of competition have been eliminated and I do think that is wrong. Some people attend blue-ribbon schools, some people attend less fortunate schools and some people don’t even attend school at all! I believe that you are my equal whether you have the best education or no education. I am not trying to be mean or nasty, or call anyone out on anything here so please don’t do that to me. We are all expressing our opinions here, there’s no need for hurtful things to be said.

I came here to look at a pic of Manson, and I find a flame war of which generation is better then the other.  If you are over 18 you are an adult, it doesn’t matter if your 1 day into 18 or 60 years old. To place blame in others is the inability to see your own weakness, everyone is equally responsible for what is happening now and has the power to push for changes they want.

    How did this snowball into a battle of the generations? It’s about Marilyn Manson being an idiot and exposing people to profanity that is not needed. Oh yeah and the little kids hand he’s holding too. I dont see him covering his mouth there. And honestly, every generation has its fair share of f-ups. Look at Marilyn Manson here, he’s a perfect example of something obviously gone wrong in his generation.

       Um…that’s not a hand of a child he is holding.  That is a woman’s hand.  If we look at it closely (yes…this is a CSI moment here.) that hand may appear to look youthful because of the small size compared to M.M.s hand.  The fact is the hand is small and older looking.  If you had any children you would realize that this is not the hand of a child.

    Nothing against Marilyn Manson.  I do love him as a music artist.  Some of his music is engrained as the soundtrack to some of my youthful memories. :-)   Fun times while stationed in Germany.

If you want to argue, exchange emails or something, right? Now, for the post above… I think it was a great idea for Marylin to at least try it. I read in another report that he covered his mouth when in the presence of young children and apologized to others. Seems like he just wants the paparazzi to mind their own goddamn business instead of putting out every move they make to the public. He could always just sue though, right? If someones picture is used without their permission, that could cause legal conflict. Why don’t celebs just threaten with a lawsuit?

    OK, how is it that a simple picture of Marilyn Manson with some writing on his face turned into an argument about generations? It’s a picture, people, that’s all! Every single thing that I see in the news on the interenet these days turns into some sort of crap about who is better than who, or which generation is better. I may only be 20 years old, but I work 2 jobs I pay my car insurance and my bills myself. I’m no better than any of the other people on here. I don’t know what generation I am, whether it’s Generation X, Generation Y or what the hell ever, I don’t really care what generation I am in because we are all human. That is all for my ranting today.

    I’m twenty-four and have been listening to Manson since I was eight. I’m a college-educated mother who works full time and owns her own car and pays her own rent for her two-bedroom apartment. That said, I stumbled upon this whole thing by accident; the link about Manson popped up and I clicked on it. Found all of this silly stuff . . .Call me silly, but my comment is about Manson. It’s a pity; he’s not the rockstar he used to be. I’ve seen him in concert several times and have met him on one occasion. I’ve watched his interviews, listened to probably every song he’s put out, own his book, seen his movies . . . I miss the old version of himself, when his music had substance because he still had something to say and something to prove. The rest of the nonsense about people ruining the economy and having no respect and arguing over the age gap, well, I think Manson would get a kick out of that.
    And by the way, it’s “you’re.” You plus are equals you’re. At least that’s something the over-thirty and under-thirty crowd have in common . . .

    If you all only knew him when he was in Ft Lauderdale just starting out. He was the coolest guy. Funny and smart. I knew from day one his band would appeal to a lot of people. I liked him very much but now I hear he is a ‘dim-bulbed’ version of what he was then. Balding and complaining about his own fans. “I don’t wanna be that guy anymore…” he said all drunk in a 5 AM 5 hour long phone call. Bitching and moaning about his life.
