The Equality Evolution!

Marriage Equality equal rights Dont Ask Dont Tell Bill Clinton

Former president Bill Clinton spoke about his views on LGBT rights and his “evolving” position on marriage equality for gay couples and the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy during an appearance with former president George Bush for the Conversation With Presidents event in Toronto. On the specific issue of gay marriage Clinton said of his viewpoint: “Frankly, it’s evolving” which he attributed to seeing more and more committed gay couples raising children. Clinton also stated his belief that the military’s “DADT” policy which bans openly gay soldiers (a ban Clinton helped to enact as president) should soon come to an end. “I think that time will lead to a repeal of this ban,” Clinton said.

Wouldn’t it be nice if our current president made the same evolutionary jump and started advocating for equality as well?
