Compared to other recent YA-novel-to-screen adaptations, I’d say this looks 97% better than Mortal Instruments, 110% better than Beautiful Creatures, 3,000% better than The Host, and almost but not quite as good Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters (nothing beats a Logan Lerman movie). Theo James is the main draw here (his backside is SPECTACULAR), with Kate Winslet adding a touch of class. Yeah, I’ll see it.
It’s the year 2028. Joel Kinnaman (soooo cute on The Killing) (SEASON ONE ONLY!) is Alex Murphy, a loving father, hunky husband, and a good cop. After being critically injured in the line of duty, he is transformed by the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp into a unstoppable super-cyborg. Co-starring Gary Oldman, Samual L Jackson, MY BELOVED JAY BARUCHEL (THE HOTTET GUY IN HOLLYWOOD!), Abbie Cornish, Michael Keaton, and Jackie Earle Haylie. In theaters February 12.
Starring Chris Pratt as the voice of Emmett, an ordinary, run-of-the-mill LEGO figurine who is mistakenly identified as the savior of the world and drafted into an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant (Will Farrell) from taking over the world. Also starring Morgan Freeman as Vitruvius, an old mystic; Elizabeth Banks, as tough-as-nails Lucy, who mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest; Will Arnett, as the mysterious Batman, a LEGO minifigure with whom Lucy shares a history; Nick Offerman as a craggy, swaggering pirate obsessed with revenge on President Business; and Alison Brie as a sweet, loveable member of the team, with a powerful secret. What do you think?
McAvoy and Fassy are back, as are cuties Nicholas Hoult and Lucas Till (as Beast and Havok) – and this time we’ve also got American Horror Story sexbomb Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask. Pardon me while I fangirl out for a minute. OMG DYING! From IMDB: “The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.”
So we’re finally settling the age-old question: Logan vs Pizz. And it’s obvious from the start that good-guy Pizz doesn’t stand a chance. A girl like Veronica needs excitement, she needs danger. And that’s what she gets when Logan Echolls (played by the delicious Jason Dohring) interrupts her new life in New York, after being arrested on murder charges. “Veronica, I need your help,” he says in the movie’s opening scene. Aaaaaand we’re off and running. Omg, I’m as excited as Kristen Bell in a room full of sloths.
An updated feature-length 3D computer animated movie based on the classic segments Peabody’s Improbable History from The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show. I’ll allow it.
“Mr. Peabody, the most accomplished dog in the world, and his mischievous boy Sherman, use their time machine — the Wabac — to go on the most outrageous adventures known to man or dog. But when Sherman takes the Wabac out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidently rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history.”
Voiced by Ariel Winter and Ty Burrell (from Modern Family), Stephen Colbert, Leslie Mann, Allison Janney, Mel Brooks, Patrick Warburton, and Stanley Tucci. (via Deadline)
