On June 28 just two days after DOMA was struck down by the Supreme Court, the always Fabulous Beekman Boys tied the knot, officially! World of Wonder was there to capture the special moment that took place on their farm, Beekman 1802, in Sharon Springs, New York. “The Beekman Boys were the first gay couple to be the leads of a reality show so it’s only fitting that we capture their vow exchange on film,” said Fenton Bailey, Co-EP of World of Wonder. ”We assembled the original Fabulous Beekman Boys team to cover the event, including director Angela Rae Berg.” Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge are best known for starring in The Fabulous Beekman Boys (now airing on Cooking Channel) as well as being the grand prize winners on The Amazing Race last December. These two city slickers turned goat farmers met in the year 2000 in New York City, but their lives quickly changed when they bought the farm in 2007. ”For those who have followed our story from the beginning, now they’ll get to see if dreams really do come true,” said Brent Ridge. ”The gays have been throwing the best weddings for straight couples for years. See how fabulous it is when they throw their own!” Among the 300 friends and family at the wedding were James Frey, Natalie & Nadiya (twin sisters from The Amazing Race) and, of course, Martha Stewart, who aired the nuptials on her Sirius XM show. In light of recent events, Josh and Brent could not have timed the wedding better. Although you can’t plan the weather, and the outdoor event was circled with dark, looming rain clouds. But rain or shine, these boys were getting hitched. The Beekman Wedding Special will be available on DVD and Amazon Instant Video starting September 21, the same day as the Harvest Festival in Sharon Springs. But first we bring you the premiere of the Polka Spot’s Countdown to the Beekman Wedding Special, a webseries documenting every detail of the day before the wedding. Supertalented wowlebrity and showrunner Angela Rae Berg writes from New York where she was with the Beekman Boys as their amazing million-dollar win became public this evening. “There was a lot of commentary about the lack of affection they showed one another throughout the race, and they explained it was because in many of the countries homosexuality is illegal. So tonight, after the moment aired that they had won the race, Brent and Josh shared a kiss to make up for all the missed kisses along the way. Hooray for our boys!!!!!”
Check out this sneak peek of wowlebrities Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, the Beekman Boys, on the season finale of The Amazing Race. The teams are in the garden of a chateau in France looking for a dog statue and trying to get information from the groundskeeper who doesn’t speak English. Luckily, Josh knows French which scares the other teams since this is the last leg of the race. The Boys are the true underdog team this season moving onto each leg of the race by the skin of their teeth, but it looks like they’re coming in strong on this last leg and are playing to win. The other teams seem a bit scared of this new, more aggressive Beekman team as they should be. Jaymes, one of the Cheppendales says, “Oh, wow. Wait a minute. These boys are pulling all kinds of tricks. Josh starts spitting French at somebody and apparently he’s got a bionic ankle now. This race is on.” Watch the Beekman Boys on the season finale of The Amazing Race this Sunday at 8PM on CBS.
