Blisteringly handsome Tron: Legacy actor Garrett Hedlund, 28, whom you’ll see soon in the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, has turned down the role that every young male in Hollywood covets: the 27-year-old billionaire sadist Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey. Garrett didn’t want to be trapped into starring in a trilogy, and producers wouldn’t let him be in just one movie. Pity, because he had been handpicked by author E.L. James to play bondage-loving Grey. Aaron Johnson turned down the part, too, and he’s married to the director, Sam Taylor-Johnson. Meanwhile, Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder spent months campaigning for the role, but author James rejected him. So the part’s still up for grabs, guys. And so’s the female lead, Grey’s submissive love interest Anastasia Steele. The erotic S&M romance, which is only R-rated, ignited a bidding war between studios. Focus Features and Universal partnered last year to land the rights to the trilogy from James, who is signed on as a producer, for $5 million. You’ve read the books? Who would you cast? The movie’s scheduled to be released about a year from now. (Combined reports; photo: Pacific Coast News)
The Jeff Stryker Journals: Growing Medical Marijuana to Save Lives is a coffee table book of pot by the former pornstar. I discovered this through New York nightlife impresario Daniel Nardicio, who’s in contact with Mr. Stryker who says, “I decided I would dedicate years of my life to not only bringing attention to the careless growers and dispensaries, but I would also offer an alternative to save lives in the process.” I don’t know much more about the cause but you can check it out here on IndieGoGo. BTW, donkey dicks are what they call the giant buds Jeff is holding. Duh. What were you thinking?
My old friend, the brilliant musician, Kristian Hoffman, has known the Louds, of An American Family fame, since childhood. His best buddy and former bandmate, the late Lance Loud, was without question THE first reality TV star. Kristian has organized a musical tribute in honor of the publication of Mom Pat Loud’s recent big coffee table book, Lance Out Loud. This Sunday, June 30, the Trepany House at Steve Allen Theater in Los Angeles will be the scene of a wild, LOUD celebration, including music from his CBGB-era band, the Mumps. Way too many to mention them all, but there is a STELLAR lineup and THIS JUST IN: Cherry Vanilla and my pal Ann Magnuson were just added to the bill. If you’re in LA and miss this one, you just might regret it. Pat Loud will be on hand to sign books after the show. Tickets are still available here.
