Tom Cruise was responding to a lawyer’s question comparing the extended time away from Suri while filming a movie to a soldier’s tour in Afghanistan, according to legal papers. “That’s what it feels like,” Cruise responded during the deposition stemming from his $50 million lawsuit accusing Life & Style and In Touch magazines of defaming him in 2012 cover stories claiming he abandoned his daughter.
In the deposition, the star also compared his work to Olympic training:
“There is difficult physical stamina and preparation. Sometimes I’ve spent months, a year, and sometimes two years preparing for a single film. A sprinter for the Olympics, they only have to run two races a day. When I’m shooting, I could potentially have to run 30, 40 races a day, day after day.”
Did Katie Holmes leave him to protect Suri from Scientology?:
“Listen, I find that question offensive. I find it – those statements offensive. And like with any relationship there are many different levels to it…there is no need to protect my daughter from my religion.” The questioner asks again “Ms Holmes has never indicated in any way that was one of the reasons that she left you? To protect Suri from Scientology?” Cruise responds, “Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes.”
On phone calls with Suri:
“You have to work at it. I’ve gotten very good at it. I’ve gotten very good at it. I tell wonderful stories and they like hearing it.” Continue reading
