Oh, the achingly tragic Dollanganger children. Locked in an attic by their cruel grandmother, with little fresh air or sunlight, they are underfed and all but forgotten. What’s a teenage brother and sister to do, then, when their bodies begin to change, when they feel URGES, when they feel DESIRE… for one another? The book that was passed around your lunch room, that made you GASP at the doomed love affair between siblings Cathy and Chris, is back, this time starring Heather Graham, Ellen Burstyn, and Kiernan Shipka. I feel dirty just watching these trailers.
Premieres in January on Lifetime.
Cameron Diaz joined Twitter this week, and one of her first posts was this image from the set of director Will Gluck’s upcoming reimagining of Annie. It stars Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Cameron as the drunken, child-hating Miss Hannigan. Personally, I don’t get it, but then I’m a purist. It’s Carol Burnett or no one. I even railed against Kathy Bates in the 1999 Disney TV version (which was just GOD AWFUL, btw). What do you think of this look for a modern Miss Hannigan? (via Twitter)
If you haven’t heard, Jay-Z is producing a remake of Annie with an ethnically diverse cast. Quvenzhane Wallis is playing the lead and Jamie Foxx is playing a character named Benjamin Staxx, which I am assuming is the Daddy Warbucks character. Miss Hannigan will be Cameron Diaz; not sure how I feel about that, but I will definitely be seeing this one. I am so intrigued by what Jay Z’s vision will be musically, etc. It can go either way. Everything Motown is hot again thanks to Motown The Musical. So could the rumor of the remake become a reality? Who do you think should play the title role of Mahogany? Or better yet, who should be cast as the sexually creepy photographer originally portrayed by the sexually creepy Anthony Perkins?
After opening above expectations, Tyler Perry’s Temptation has positioned Kim Kardashian to become the next major multiplex star. Apparently, the ubiquitous actress/model is wasting no time lining up her next project: a remake of Woody Allen’s Annie Hall. Tyler Perry broke the news today during his appearance on Good Morning, Hong Kong, where he was promoting Temptation‘s big opening. Kris Jenner also commented on Twitter, saying that “Kim has always admired Woody Allen’s work. She watched Crimes and Misdemeanors so many times in high school, she practically broke the VCR!” No word on whether Woody or Diane will make cameos in the film.
From the director of Boys Don’t Cry (who knew? I didn’t), it’s the Carrie remake! As far as teaser trailers go, I think it’s pretty scary and compelling. What do you guys think? And are the other actresssexuals out there excited to see what Julianne Moore does with Mother Margaret?
