Superstar hat designer Philip Treacy scored big at the Michael Jackson auction at Julien’s of Beverly Hills the other night, purchasing this crazy-creepy fetish cyborg mask designed by Dennis Tompkins and Michael Lee Bush and signed by the late singer. ”I love it!” he posted on Facebook, saying, “I was so lucky to see Michael Jackson opening his show in Wembley stadium wearing this mask emerging from a rocket!” It’s a spectacular get, no doubt about it, but it reminds me of a particularly terrifying episode of Josie and the Pussycats that’s been haunting me since the early ’70s, so I’m not sure I could ever own it. Good for Philip, though, if can handle it. Pleasant dreams, dude.
The Duchess of Cornwall broke out this fabulous Philip Treacy blue beret with a rose wrapped in Saturn-style rings for her visit to the Royal Air Force base near the town of Thame in Oxfordshire. Love her. Love that she can be so experimental and so fashion forward sometimes, and still keep that same hairdo she had in the ’70s. Such a jarring juxtaposition. God bless her. (via Daily Mail)
I’ve always wanted a pair of ram horns, and this gilded pair have QUITE the fashion pedigree. They came from Isabella Blow’s sheep farm, and were made into a headpiece by Philip Treacy for Alexander McQueen’s 1997 Givenchy show, that was then worn by Naomi Campbell. If you’re going to die for fashion, that’s the way to do it. (via Naomi Hit Me)
