httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWSOEjLJwWI WOW reporter Damiana Garcia had a delightful night filled with fabulous, freaky art queers at the performance space Human Resources in Chinatown. At the after-party for the Outfest film Sunset Stories, Damiana enjoyed live performances from Justin Vivian Bond and Nao Bustamente (who both starred in the film), AB Soto, Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, and Jacolby Satterwhite. She got to chat with the night’s featured artists and the film’s co-director Silas Howard, as well as Christeene, Esther Martin, Wu Tsang, and Clayton Farris. Haley Joel Osment is fully grown now and back making movies. His new film, which will screen at this year’s Outfest in Los Angeles, is Sassy Pants, in which he plays a line-dancing, Daisy Dukes-wearing gay, bless him. Sassy Pants, based on director Coley Sohn’s award-winning short “Boutenniere,” is the coming-of-age story of Bethany Pruitt (Awkward star Ashley Rickards), a home-schooled teen who seeks freedom from her overbearing, smothering mother (Breaking Bad‘s Anna Gunn) and runs off to live with her absentee dad (Diedrich Bader), becoming fast friends with his much-younger boyfriend, the now-24 Haley Joel Osment. So there you have it and we can’t wait. You can watch the trailer here (though Osment’s not much in it) and read a conversation between Osment and directer Sohn here.
Drew Droege is back, name-dropping queer cinema icons, eating “crispy baked bread-knots,” (known to us mortals as pretzels), and wearing a River Island maxi skirt, aubergine sunnies, and a festival laniard by HBO. Thank you, darling, for making cognizant of this hopp’nstonce. Shout-out to Shangela.
Damiana attended Outfest‘s 10th Annual Platinum “Night Moves” party at The Alexandria Hotel in Downtown LA and, to her delight, the crazy art queers were out in full force. Damiana rubbed elbows and worked it out on the dance floor with “Chloe Sevigny” (the brilliant Drew Droege), performance artist extraordinaire Nao Bustamente, Oscar Olima (designer of some of Lady Gaga’s most iconic looks), Lina Lecaro of LA Weekly and LA Slush, Who’s Afraid of Vagina Wolf director Anna Albelo (in full vagina regalia, along with her small army of dancing vaginas), “Night Moves” organizer KP Pepe, and many more, while RuPaul’s Drag Race choreographer Ryan Heffington and the Sweaty Sundays Ladyboys regaled the crowd with some hot night moves of their own.
