Fab.com has joined with Christie’s and the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts to inaugurate Christie’s online auction of Warhol’s drawings, screenprints, Polaroids, and gelatin prints of his “male landscapes.” (Click pics to enlarge.) Says Joel Wachs, president of the Warhol Foundation: “Andy would have loved Fab, and especially this sale to benefit artists and arts organizations. In 1984, he participated in the Gay Day parade (as they called it then). He took photos, and the pride they displayed then is the pride which we feel today.” Visit Fab to see more prints and get auction prices. Meanwhile, we love that the president of the Warhol Foundation said, “Andy would have loved Fab,” because “Andy would have loved it” became a kind of presumptuous mantra on the streets of New York virtually the day after the artist died, and it’s funny now to hear it come from someone corporate.
