We have it on good authority that – as Stefon might put it – the hottest club on Saturday night in Los Angeles right now is MmHmmm. Apparently, it’s not only the drinks that are stiff, and the room is so dark you can’t see what’s going on even as it’s going on with you. Ahhh, we remember nights like that in Manhattan back in the day. Anyway, here’s the invitation to the club. See you there? Actually, we won’t be able to actually see you if what we hear is true.

This past weekend was a twirlwind of Grammy parties and pre-Grammy parties in Hollywood and thereabouts. Levi’s served up Frank Ocean for the denim-clad fashionista set; Clive Davis paid homage to Whitney one year later (though Mother Cissy was definitely not participating) at his annual bash, and at The Bazaar in Bev Hills, former rap studlet-turned-CSI LA bohunk LL Cool J hosted his own shindig. In attendance were the likes of TV mega-producer Mark Burnett, Mark Cuban, Neil Patrick Harris, Holly Robinson Peete, Nas, artist Shepherd Fairey, and former boxing babe Laila Ali… and wowlebrity and all-around superstar La Toya Jackson.
Just look at La Toya, regal in purple… So shiny and adorbs! But who wouldn’t glow at the chance to rub up on LL. More La Toya sparkle – purple and otherwise – is to be expected when her reality series Life With La Toya hits OWN this April.

And New York can SUCK IT, because they aren’t one of them! HA! In fact, New York places 32nd on Badoo.com‘s list of the busiest, most on-the-go, 24-hour cities in the world. Badoo gathered information from 120 million chats posted by 120 million people from 188 different countries, and discoverd that Cairo was the city were people go to bed later than anywhere else in the world. Lloyd Price, marketing director of Badoo, says that they found that people in New York City go to bed when people in Cairo are just getting ready for nightlife. “In Cairo, people are happy they are alive. There are big changes lurking there,” he said. So: Clubbing in Cairo, good to know. Somebody fly me over and let’s test that out! As for the country that never sleeps, Spain (not surprisingly) tops them all with six cities listed in the top 10. And as for New York City (which tied with Montreal, Palermo, and Marseille), people who have been saying that the city is becoming more sterile and sleepier in recent years, are actually correct. “For the true New Yorker, that may be a hard fact to accept,” says Price.
TOP 10 Cities That Are Awake The Longest:
1. Cairo – Egypt
2. Montevideo – Uruguay
3. Beirut – Lebanon
4. Malaga – Spain
5. Zaragoza – Spain
6. Madrid – Spain
7. Barcelona – Spain
8. Valencia – Spain
9. Seville – Spain
10. Buenos Aires – Argentina
As for London, Paris and Rome? They are 17, 18 and 27 respectively.
