Rambo, But Gay starring the very talented Mario Diaz is the gay retelling of one of the most iconic manly movies ever made. Sure there’s blood in guts in this Rambo from Michael Serrato and Mark Byers, but in this musical version the audience is asked to reexamine what it is to be a man and what it is to be manly. This post DOMA tinkering of war veteran, John Rambo is hopefully just the first exploration of “Manly, But Gay” that Serrato and Byers get to tell. Also features other friends and family or WOW. Enjoy

The crazy-talented team behind the musical Hairspray (and the best part of SMASH, the original songs) Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, two guys I’ve known for eons, have teamed up with the brilliant director Sam Mendes on the musical version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The big premiere was this week in London and Marc posted this photo today with this funny caption; “Sarah Jessica Parker, Scott Wittman, Marc Shaiman, Uma Thurman, Matthew Broderick, and Barbara Windsor. I’m the short one next to Uma Thurman…no, not that one, the other one.”
If you have a moment, you could do far worse than watch this, yes, fabulous 1980 Raquel Welch musical fantasy in a New York City subway station, replete with leatherboy rough trade. Raq is mesmerizing throughout. (via Ultimate Variety)
We’ve been hearing about the Broadway telling of Cher’s life for so long, I just chalked it up to theater gossip. Guess what, kids? It’s happening. And who will play the living legend? No, not Chad Michaels, sadly, but there will be three Chers, as the play will be divided into three parts: the young pop star with ex-hubby Sonny Bono, then the “Believe” years, followed by the present-day Cher to be played by the one and only, Cher. I could literally scream with excitement at the mere hint of this, let alone the fact that it is actually happening. Dolly is writing a musical based on her life, and I mean allllll of her life, sexuality included. Not only is Dolly coming up with the story, but the music will be all hers too, natch, including some of her biggest hits and some written just for the musical. RuPaul is gonna plotz.
