Yes, I’ve been Facebook stalking him, but really – can you blame me? Those muscles! BEST ARMS IN JOURNALISM! I usually watch the ABC Weekend News because David Muir gives me tingles, but lately I’ve been tuning in hoping to catch this cutie: Gio Benitez. When he joined World News in January (from CBS WFOR-4 in South Florida), ABC News president Ben Sherwood wrote a note to his staff saying: “Versatile and hard-charging, Gio worked for years as an investigative producer before going on the air. He will be a welcome addition to the World News family.” All I get from that is “versatile.” Plus, he loves his abuelita and Mickey Mouse, what more could you want in a husband?

muscles MAC Jalena Abbou beauty ad campaign This new MAC ad featuring Serbian-American competitive body builder and fitness model Jalena Abbou harkens back to those gorgeous early ’80s Lisa Lyon photos by Robert Mapplethorpe that so brilliantly blurred the line between the masculine and the feminine (while simultaneously challenging and adhering to classical aesthetic standards). It’s stunning to see such a muscular woman in a cosmetics ad, because, as Jezabel points out: “She’s styled and photographed in a way that glamorizes her and highlights her beauty and her femininity, but the ad also does not camouflage or attempt to minimize her incredible body. (Which is the usual treatment that athletes, particularly female athletes, get in fashion photography) In fact, Abbou’s muscular arms are the focus of this picture.” Fab! Fab! Fab! And good for MAC for continually pushing the boundaries of contemporary beauty!
