Probably my favorite song EVER. All the nuttiest sound bytes from the World of Wonder/HBO documentary In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye, remixed by Lucian Paine and The Fabulous Pop Tarts (aka Fenton and Randy) into a kicky dance track. Fun Fact: It’s the first time the Pop Tarts have been in the studio in 21 YEARS, and it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT, imho. Listen to the song in the closing credits, left, then purchase the full-length version at iTunes! Only 99¢ for the chicest dance song IN THE WORLD!

Every season of RuPaul’s Drag Race has ended with a dragtasic music video, but this year’s Glamazon, directed by the sickening Mathu Andersen, was a stomping masterpiece – with enough celebrity cameos to sink the Love Boat.

Trends PopTart Mathu Andersen Lucian Piane fashion Barbra Streisand LOVE the excitement about the song in the credits of In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye.  Of course, up to this point it has been all about the owl. The octopus made a valiant attempt to snare the zeitgeist in its tentacles, but the owl has gone on and on. However, as more and more retailers appropriate this wise old bird for their nefarious ends, it can only be a matter of time before the owl jumps the shark.

These are memes for greater minds than mine to parse but, unlike the owl and the octopus, the butterlfy is an open book; almost anything can be about the butterfly, even if it is not a butterfly. It really is a Rorschach test.  They don’t call it the butterfly efffect for nothing.

And in this random yet connected vein does anyone remember that Barbra Streisand ’70s folly The Butterfly?  Instead of the to-be-expected butterfly, the cover showed a fly on butter. No less weirdly, the album featured covers of David Bowie’s “Life On Mars” and Bob Marley’s “Guava Jelly.”  According to Wikipedia, it is her least favorite album.  So there you have it. What should the cover for It’s All About the Butterfly be? Butter? A fly? Or?Trends PopTart Mathu Andersen Lucian Piane fashion Barbra Streisand

Omg, the end credits for In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye… So brilliant! So fabulous! YOU. ARE. GOING. DIE. The nuttiest soundbytes from Grace, Babs, et al remixed into a funky dance track by Lucian Piane and the Pop Tarts, I think it’s BEST SONG OF 2012! MAYBE THE BEST SONG OF THE DECADE! I see fashionistas and scene queens dancing to this at all the best parties. I see Extravaganzas and Muglers battling in ballrooms to this song. And I GUARANTEE you will be singing “It’s all about the butterfly, the butterfly, the butterfly” for YEARS to come. Loveit loveit loveit. You don’t HAVE to have seen the documentary to enjoy it, but if you HAVEN’T SEEN IT, well WHY NOT? It’s on HBO again this afternoon, and then Wednesday night. Definitely worth DVRing.

You saw it here first, children. It’s the brand new video for RuPaul’s “Responsitrannity” from his Glamazon album. This song is not only my favorite from the album, but did you know it was originally titled “Responsibility”? That is, until Ru’s producer Lucian Piane casually commented, “You mean responsitrannity?” and the rest is herstory. The song was inspired by RuPaul’s rant on the season one reunion of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Enjoy the video, and also click here for a detailed track-by-track explanation of the songs on Glamazon with RuPaul and Lucian. And don’t forget to tune in to RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race on Monday at 9PM on Logo.
