WOW Gallery artist Ladyluxe (now known as “J.Deluxe”) has a new video out called ”Changed” (available on iTunes, wink). The music video features footage from three live performances from The Francine Dancer Show, a legendary 2008 Los Angeles public access series. If you recall, Francine Dancer has been a legend on the Hollywood street in her wheelchair for years!

NYU mourns the death of the legenday campus figure known as the Time Keeper aka John Votta. From the Daily News: “For years, Votta, 70, voluntarily patrolled a patch of pavement along the east side of Washington Square Park, barking out the time to harried students and launching himself into the street to stop speeding cars. He was found dead Monday in his W. 12th St. apartment of heart disease, authorities said.” The diminutive Votta wore two watches on each wrist and dutifully counted down the time to the start of classes. “He didn’t ask for anything back,” said Yee Ting Wu, 20, an NYU junior studying economics and urban design. “And he was always here, rain or shine.” (via NYU Local)
From the Barrelhouse: “In 1945 Mrs. L.A. Olson, wife of a Colorado farmer, decided to have chicken for dinner. Mrs. Olson took Mike to the chopping block and axed off his head. The axe failed to cleanly clip the brain, instead creating a super-bird that refused to die. Miracle Mike’s plight lead him out of the barnyard and into the limelight; for the next year and a half he starred in sideshows, acquired a promoter, appeared in LIFE Magazine, accrued a closet of stand-in rooster heads and was waited on feather and claw with suitcase and drop-feeder. True to rock star status he finally died in a motel somewhere in the Arizona desert.”
From LAist: “It’s pretty much impossible not to love local fixture Angelyne for her pure Los Angeles-ness, her perseverance in the public eye and her general weird, extreme version of the sexy blonde bombshell. Now, if you’d now like to own a little bit of that special kind of magic, you can — auction house Bonhams is putting some Angelyne memorabilia on the block on June 24. The items set to be sold include the outfit she wore during her first billboard shoot, another outfit from her turn in Earth Girls are Easy, and a plaque proclaiming her the ‘Honorary Mayor West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval 1993.’ No word on whether Angelyne herself will be present for the festivities.” Can’t wait! Oh look! It’s one of our favorite Hollywood Boulevard couples, Duaveed Hakhainhaguadole and his wife Clara, napping on the bus! She’s a Federal judge, you know, although she seems to be looking a little worse for the wear these days. But what she’s lost in her lower anatomy, she’s more than compensated for in her ballooning chestal region. Sigh. It’s always nice to see a couple in love, though, isn’t it? “I’m the luckiest man in the world,” Duaveed has said to me on numerous occasions. And I believe him.
This will get you in the mood for the weekend. West Hollywood drag queens, promoters, bartenders, and shirtless go-go boys sing along to the gayest song of the year. I don’t know who any of these people are but, damn, I think the papi with the tattoo wants me to call him.
UPDATE: The phone number he flashes ISN’T HIS CELL PHONE AT ALL. *Frownie face* It’s for a party at Ultra-Suede or maybe an STD hotline, I was so crushed I stopped listening.
UPDATE #2: Of course that’s the legendary Rhea Litre, my GOD, how could I have not realized that right off the bat? She’s such a chameleon, that’s why. Big hug, honey. And apparently that’s bartender-about-town Jordan Shannon. And promoter Woody Woodbeck. And go-go god Davon Saxon. And Randy Blue porn star Nicco Sky and J.Lo backup dancer Matt McCall. Please feel free to tell me who I’m missing and who my swarthy Spanish husband is. (via OMG Blog)
