From the mid-’70s: John Belushi caught bombing someone’s nice Polaroid of Chevy Chase, probably on the set of Saturday Night Live, the legend years. Actually, although this is the earliest photo-bomb shot we’ve seen, the pic pre-dates the term “photo bomb.” The first person to practice what is now an internet meme is said to be Rollen Stewart aka The Rainbow Man, who popped up in photos in the late ’70s and early ’80s wearing a rainbow-colored afro wig and holding signs reading “John 3:16” at sporting events around the country. But in what-becomes-a-legend-most fashion, Stewart went totally, dangerously mental and is now serving three consecutive life sentences for a nasty hotel-maid hostage situation in 1992. But don’t take our roughly sketched word for any of this. Look it up.
