Jimi Hendrix in the Army. Story is that Hendrix twice had trouble with the law for riding in stolen cars and was given a choice between spending two years in prison or joining the Army. Hendrix wisely chose the Army and enlisted on May 31, 1961, assigned to the 101st Airborne Division.
