Last night, NBC reached an historic milestone by celebrating 80 years of its illustrious page program. The Kenneths of the world united at The Grill on the Universal lot with special guests including Parks and Recreation star and former page Aubrey Plaza, Kenneth the Page on 30 Rock aka Jack McBrayer, along with Hollywood Squares host Peter Marshall, who started in the program in 1941! Pages young and old alike recounted memories while carrying a shared badge of honor. For 80 years, pages have been at the front lines of the company, conducting tours, working The Tonight Show in Los Angeles and SNL in New York. Just like Kenneth on 30 Rock, pages often bite the bullet by stomaching not-so-glamorous tasks in the hopes of something better for the future. And there is hope for the future! Many pages have gone on to be quite successful, with Steve Allen, Ted Koppel, and Michael Eisner among its notable alumni. Former page Regis Philbin, who holds the world record for most hours on US television, conducted a similar celebration last night in New York City. Currently the program has a lower acceptance rate than Harvard, offering just 50 spots on the West Coast for over 9,000 applicants per year. Needless to say from the photos, the night brought an impressive amount of Peacock Pride!
