In 1965 The Supremes made one of their first appearances in the UK on the show Ready, Steady, Go along with Motown’s Little Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Martha & the Vandellas, and hosted by Dusty Springfield. The closing number is a TV rarity with all the legendary acts jamming together in a medley of “Shop Around,” “Where Did Our Love Go?” and “Mickey’s Monkey.”

“You gave me faith, then took my hope. Look at me now.” Diana Ross upstaging the Supremes as they introduce Love Is Here and Now You’re Gone on the Andy Williams Show in 1967.
“Girls growing up in underprivileged areas, need to know their worth and their value. I was born in the Brewster housing project and meeting Maxine Powell showed me that there was the possibility of beauty, grace, integrity and meaning to my life. The wisdom she shared with me and all of the young artists at Motown will never be forgotten. She was the true example of a mentor and coach and just someone who cared about us.” – Diana Ross on the recent passing of the woman who taught grooming, poise, and social graces to her and so many other young Motown stars.
This weekend Diana Ross invited Gloria Gaynor on stage to perform the disco classic “I Will Survive.” I KNOW, I KNOW. Gloria Gaynor’s 1978 recording is and will always be the definitive version. Still, Miss Ross’ 1996 cover is of herstorical significance for its dragtastic music video that co-stars RuPaul and the queens of West Hollywood. Very ARTPOP ’96.
What we have here is this, from the top: Much to his annoyance, Mark Wahlberg was photographed leaving a Los Angeles church with his adorable son Brendan after a bit of confessing inside; The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus was spotted walking his luggage at LAX on his way to catch a flight outta town; meanwhile, it looks like Topher Grace is trying to appear nonchalantly oblivious to the paps snapping him as he leaves the Chateau Marmont; and, OMG, the Motown queen Diana Ross was caught making a grocery run at a supermarket in Malibu and we can’t stop looking at her SUPREME BOOTY! Who knew?
