Says Consequence of Sound: “Gone is the original’s haze of dub and bass and the Nancy Sinatra undertones. In their place is the stark minimalism of a pseudo-folky cover, complete with light piano, jagged acoustic guitar, lush backing harmonies, and stand-up bass. Though Miley’s spent much of the year either “rapping” or belting, she opts for a low, husky whisper, managing to maintain some of Del Rey’s pomp while emphasizing more of the track’s inherent intimacy.” Love it.

It’s pretty dark. An ominous rallying cry for the citizens of Panem. And Tears for Fears apparently approves. Frontman Curt Smith told MTV Hive, “I think it’s absolutely amazing, but then I love her, I think she’s brilliant…. We love it when other people cover our stuff. Sometimes we steal them and use their version live.” Listen here and tell me what you think.
Well, obviously I missed it because it’s literally THE WORST SHOW ON TELEVISION and I would rather shove oyster forks in my eyeballs than sit through an entire episode. And yet. And yet. Chord Overstreet still exerts a certain tug on my heart and in my pants. I might be talked into watching a video of this. Until then, these pics suffice. It’s just… DEAR GOD, THOSE ARMPITS… I could bury my face in them FOREVER. More pics after the jump. (via Superherofan)
By now, of course you’ve heard Norwegian duo Ylvis’ worldwide viral smash “The Fox” (WA PAOW POW POW POW PA POW! GERING DING DING DING DA DING!) and no doubt seen the videos Teens React to “The Fox” and The Elderly React to “The Fox“ But as adorable as Ylvis is (and make no mistake, brothers Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker are TOTES ADORBS) you’ve probably been hoping that some lower-tiered boyband would lip dub it for you. Wait now more. Here’s the boys of Emblem3, (mostly shirtless, of course) covering the song, and they’re as BRILLIANT as you knew they would be. Just… please let’s not make this a thing. Are you listening Union J and 5 Seconds of Summer? “Fox” fatigue is already setting in.
Cute naked straight boys cover Miley’s song and it’s really fantastic. It’s your “Must See Video” of the day. (via BuzzFeed)
Well, it’s not so much a cover as it is a “re-imagining.” You’ll see. Best part? The chicken and penguin dancing in the discotheque. MUCH better than the original.
