NYC drag icon Peppermint has taken on hip hop’s little princess Azealia Banks, and her club hit “212 Ft. Lazy Jay”. Officially, this is a parody, a cray cray cultural de-differentiation… so ain’t no need for further shade retaliation from Banks’ camp. Think of this as Peppermint’s Doomsday send-off to everything the “Mayan’s” predict should end, including Lady Gaga, Gangnam Style and Grindr…”Oh shit, look, the Mayans are here!”
Harlem-rapper Azealia Banks tweeted that she is “definitely boycotting Dolce & Gabbana for their corny, racist imagery in their 2013 spring collection.” D&G say that the imagery is used to “celebrate their Sicilian roots.” Not for nothin’ but the earrings can definitely be taken as racist. They sent white women down the runway with earrings that were black women wearing burlap dresses and plantation-era cornucopias. Something tells me that they didn’t design this outfit for Miss Banks, but that’s just a guess.
And here’s Azealia debuting her new seapunk hairdo at the Mugler show. Apparently it took 10 hours to do. Fabulous.
From Idolator: “So far, the Spin cover girl‘s videos have been unwaveringly chic and well-executed. Her latest clip, for ‘Luxury,’ another promo track taken from this summer’s Fantasea mixtape, is somewhere in between the two: Shot in noirish black-and-white like ’212′ but featuring the same haute elegance and goofy-but-sexy choreography as ‘Liquorice,’ the ‘Luxury’ video is quintessentially Banks. The Clarence Fuller-directed clip primarily takes place on a New York City rooftop, and those visuals align nicely with the sleek ’90s house vibe of ‘Luxury.’ Just one more reason why we can’t wait to get Broke With Expensive Taste with her.”
