On April 28, 1958, artist Yves Klein exhibited The Void, one of many events in a series under the that title, at Iris Clert Gallery in Paris. The exhibition was a white painted gallery space with nothing in it. On opening night, people in groups of 10 at a time entered to view the empty gallery. While they waited to see the exhibit, guests sipped blue cocktails made of gin and Cointreau, and – unbeknown to them – methylene blue. When the guests returned home, their urine turned blue within a few hours. – Louis Cannizzaro
