Robert Chambers, you’ll remember, was released from prison on Valentine’s Day in 2003 after serving 15 years for the 1986 strangling of 18-year-old Jennifer Levin in Central Park during a romantic date gone horribly wrong. Now it’s reported that after neighbors complained of constant traffic in and out of the apartment the so-called Preppie Killer, 41 shared with his girlfriend, Shawn Kovell, 39, police began a three-month undercover investigation and discovered that, yes, the constant traffic was in fact trafficking: NYPD officers bought 246 grams of cocaine for $9,600 from Chambers and Kovell, an amount with a street value of $20,000. Chambers had been a middleman for friends and had moved tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs, mostly cocaine but he also dabbled in crack and marijuana. Slapped with multiple felony charges of selling and possession, Chambers could go back to prison for 150 years. Coke dealer, huh? Like he thought it was still the ’80s? Does he get a break for giving the undercover agents that sweet deal? And how is it the Preppy Killer scored a girlfriend? (Source; source)
