We are delighted to report that World of Wonder's Logo series, Transamerican Love Story, tied with VH1's I Want to Work for Diddy for the Outstanding Reality Series prize at the GLAAD Media Awards ceremony in San Francisco over the weekend. The gorgeous star of our show, Calpernia Addams, was there to accept, and has a full report on her website, Calpernia Addams Diary. Also at the event were wowlebrities Jim Howley and Wilson Cruz. Friday night, I made my weekly trek downtown for my favorite club, "Shits & Giggles," where I ran smack into wowlebrity Calpernia Addams from WOW/LOGO's Transamerican Love Story! Since we were at the club, and since CalCal sings one of my FAVORITEST songs, I had an idea. Why doesn't Calpernia do a surprise performance of "Stunning"?! (I know, right? Kudos me!) And she totally did! After a quick costume change, of course. Here are some of the pictures taken of the performance by my friend Gabe Ayala of Rolling Blackouts!
Oh will the good times never end here at the World of Wonder Storefront Gallery? Today, photographers Tony and Idris set up a photo shoot for wowlebrities Calpernia Addams and Andrea James (from Transamerican Love Story), and hilarity ensued. On the left is an absolutely STUNNING behind-the-scene pic of Calpernia, getting ready. (She wants me to stress that her hair was NOT done yet.) Then, as the photo shoot began, and Calpernia was fiddling with her balloons and sashaying about the gallery and generally posing up a storm, I couldn't help but feel she was channelling the spirit of the dearly-departed tranny legend, The International Chrysis (seen here in the photo on the right.) What do you think? (Photo at left by Thairin Smothers)
World of Wonder has been nominated in two categories: In Outstanding Documentary (Sex Change Hospital) and Outstanding Reality Program (TransAmerican Love Story). We congratulate ourselves and keep in mind it's an honor just to be nominated among such company.
"I was sitting next to Monica Lewinsky when I took this. I wish I could have gotten Monica in it, too. It would have been the photo of a lifetime. But she has already been through so much, I just let her eat. Poor girl has had enough." - Calpernia Addams
My google alert for "World of Wonder" brought me two fun things since the Holiday Winter Boogie Wonderland Rollerskating Party on Friday night... (more about the party coming soon).
Jim Howley, our favorite contestant on World of Wonder's transgender reality show Transamerican Love Story, gets a lot of press as an activist in the trans community. And very often he does it naked, like he did for "The Naked Truth," this Advocate piece on "the beauty and blemish of the human body." He tells us, "People are going to start not being able to recognize me with my clothes on!" (Photo by Eric Schwabel)
Calpernia Addams' girlfriend Andrea James reminds us on her blog that Transamerican Love Story will be having a car in the LA Pride parade on Sunday, June 8, beginning at 11AM. Sharing waving duties will be Addams, TLS host Alec Mapa, and one of Addams' bachelors, Jim Howley. Also, Addams will be joining comic Mapa in his show No Fats, Femmes, or Asians at The Village over Pride Weekend.
Remember this post from mid-April when Transamerican Love Story bachelor Jim Howley wrote that nude pics of himself got him kicked off MySpace but they'd be exhibited at a gallery in May? Well, it's May now and the show starts tomorrow at The Village, 1125 N McCadden Place, in Los Angeles (map). "Please come out and support me in all my half clothed glory!" says Jim.
Jim Howley, one of the original eight bachelors who competed for Calpernia Addams' attention and affection on Logo's Monday-night dating series Transamerican Love Story, phoned into the World of Wonder offices again to dish the dirt on last night's episode. Listen to Jim's new, last voicemail here, and visit Jim's MySpace here.
Transamerican Love Story bachelor Jim Howley has sent these photos and writes:
Without warning, I was booted from MySpace for these pictures. Check them out, forward them to whomever you'd like! If you are living in Los Angeles, please come to the opening of the art show these pics will be displayed in called "Transcending Boundaries." The opening is May 29th from 7-9PM at the Gay and Lesbian Center, 1125 N McCadden Place. I will be there (with my clothes on) and would love to meet you. (Photos by Jen Rosenstein)
On tonight's season finale of Transamerican Love Story, Calpernia Addams has to make a decision about her feelings for one of the three remaining suitors. Does she find the man of her dreams? We couldn't wait to know whom she chose, if anybody, in this last installment of Transamerican Love Story and nobody here would tell the house blogger, so we called Calpernia Addams at home, where she was in a meeting with her pal Andrea James. Without revealing anything, she told us that, "Tonight I had to make the hardest decision yet. You may or may not agree with whom I chose – they all had their special qualities – but you just have to trust me, I know what I'm doing. Thank you for watching!" She just made us more curious. "I may have said some sassy things about the guys," added Andrea, "but I respect and admire all of them for being part of such a groundbreaking show. Callie had a very tough choice indeed."

On the season finale tonight of WOW's extraordinary dating show, Transamerican Love Story, the three bachelor finalists move out of the mansion and into the heart of Hollywood, the better to prepare for their last opportunities to win the hand of fair bachelorette Calpernia Addams. Which of the guys, if any, will Calpernia choose to be her partner? Find out tonight at 10PM on Logo.
