FINALLY, Matt Bomer Comes Out

The White Collar hunk came out during Saturday’s Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards, where he received the New Generation Arts and Activism Award for his work in the fight against HIV/AIDS. During his speech, he told the crowd: ”I’d really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry. Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment.” Simon being his husband Simon Halls, of course, the powerful Hollywood publicist who many credit Matt’s success to. And JUST LIKE THAT, Matt Bomer becomes blog-worthy. I no longer have to feel conflicted about writing about him. Until today, I always felt like, “Yeah, he’s hot, but yuck. Just come out already. It’s 2012. And you’re 35 years old. Stop with the self-loathing or PROTECTING YOUR PRECIOUS CAREER.” So, Matt Bomer WELCOME TO THE WOW REPORT and welcome to the rest of your life.     100% agree with you. It bugs me how we portray celebs like Ricky Martin and Lance Bass for coming out after their careers were over. These two could have helped taken a stand for gay rights and helped a lot of young people in the 90′s find self acceptance.

    Ru was actually the first person I remember as being an openly gay celeb in the 90′s and then came Ellen. That’s what we were working with.

    So eff you Ricky and Lance. You don’t deserve our support or our press…. I don’t want to read your books or watch your stupid biopic reflections on past cowardice.

      Frankly, the last thing anyone needs is pressure to come out. You may have been waving the gay flag since you were in a highchair, but many others are compelled to keep quiet or make this decision later in life. For me, I wasn’t sure I was even gay because I couldn’t possibly be attracted to the art freaks and awkward prisses that exhibited the telltale signs of gayness in grade school and college. I’m sure that Lance and Ricky aren’t losing sleep that people with your perspective don’t approve. Actually, fuck you and your approval.
