Stay Hungary: A Reading by French and Saunders of a Hungarian Interview with Madonna

Stephen Saban

When Madonna was shooting Evita in Hungary back in ’95, she was interviewed by the Budapest paper Blick. The questions were asked in Hungarian and translated into English for Madonna, who answered in English and had her replies translated into Hungarian for the interviewer. The story was published in Blick in Hungarian, of course, but was later translated back into English when it was reprinted in USA Today. And now here are the hilarious British ladies Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders reading the mangled result as if it were an absurdist playlet. Swear to God, you’ll find NOTHING FUNNIER all day. That is hysterical.  “Dating in bed” is such a nice way to put it…

This is hysterical! As much as I feel Madonna is well past her Sell-By
date, I adore an interview that’s been translated back and forth, from
Hungarian-to-English, way too many times, and finally read by French and
    Saunders!
